GB had agreed to have our next game on EoR, but since many GBs felt unfamiliar with the core, RT proposed a mixed game on EoR to help GB get accustomed to the core's many differences from both vanilla Allegiance and DN. Originally, it was to be Dengaroth v. myself, but at the last minute, jGBaxter took the big chair. All the pilots went into the pick pool and we mixed up both teams.

RB: Terralthra commands Iron Coalition
GT: jGBaxter commands Belters

Settings: HiHigher, med/med/normal

I push opening op and teleport together to 7, jGB places his op in 2 with a ref behind. His opening TP I assume plants at home. Some minor skirmishing over both miners ensue, but very solid miner and con D ensures the He3 keeps flowing on both sides.

I start on my expansion complex and push a 2nd OP high, but short build it in 10 as we spot their sup con in 9 with at least 3 escorts, and my light ints aren't quite a match for belter fignans, especially having had to boost 2 sectors to get there. My 2nd TP plants 4. I leapfrog an outpost to 3 to threaten their op in 2, jGB puts a teleport in 12, then pushes an op and TP together into 1, while somewhere along the line building a home tac. I quietly buy tech and upgrade my expansion, while sending most of the team after their miners. Solid probing and scouting continually pinpoint their miners, but to no effect, as extremely solid miner D on blue stymies the miner hunting. They push a TP into my op sector at 10, and the time has come to buy bombers. A quick int-camp ensures the death of that TP, while ints foil their first bombing attempt.

History in the bomber then rips low attempting to go for their home, but is eyed way too early, and the aleph is mined and droned good. So instead he docks and the bombrun transfers to 3 to go after their op in 2.

Their stealths are up at this point, and 2mw pulselaser makes short work of 3 of my lightly defended miners. Madpeople in particular was a very effective miner hunter. I dock my last miner, having finished buying most interceptor tech from the exp, and upgrading the garr to begin heavy bombers.

The bombrun on 2 is successful, but they have plenty of warning to camp, caltrop, and drone the aleph to their op/tp in 1. I put another TP up in 5 to facilitate mining. I push another op into 2 while a 2nd bombrun makes them camp up, and when the op builds, a couple of nans dock and transfer high to Greenhawk's 2nd bombrun to 1. He bombs that successfully, while History rips to 4 and hits their TP 12. He continues to their home, perfectly situated to pump their tac lab full of 1kT(A)s, but because of the armoured warheads, he can't do more than dent their TP before running out and ripping low to rearm. Green meanwhile takes his solo bomber to be a paper tiger on their sup.

The drones/mines expire from 7 to their home, and History with nans and interceptor cover in the form of ever-whoring doofus and Kartoffel make short work of the outteched defenders. An SB shows up at the op low after History leaves, and I curse, but manage to pod him before he pops the op. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

This time armed with plenty of 1kT, History blows the garrison and TP while most of GT fume in their eject pods. "DAMN YOU KARTOFFEL!!" I can imagine most of them saying.

Green's "distraction" bomber enters their sup sector and manages to blow their sup, as most of the D is podded in their home, and the few remaining D is camping the aleph from their home against History's more obvious bombrun. The pods that manage to get picked up launch from their newly discovered Expansion complex in 11 in interceptors, but can't stop the oncoming bombrun and we get their Exp.

Good game all around. Lots of good feelings about the differences, and an agreement to do it again from GB. Nice flying to all of my pilots, GB and RT alike, especally Thelamon, who crossnanned like a champ, and doofus, who whored it up quite well.

Sounds more or less correct... all I have to add are STFN. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Oh, and the image for the scores ends with my chat to Denga, who I picked early to join specifically for his knowledge of EoR (aside from his overall comming ability and piloting) and his ability to help me not make any core specific changes, I was a little exasperated that the only thing he said was about df missiles (which on EoR are pretty much exclusively utl hunters) and sidewinders (which are 'supposed' to be great anti-int missiles- though I do prefer imrecs), and he wanted proxies which I learned after the game are much more powerful then I remembered.

I know the core pretty good, but not as well as many in RT... that help I needed.

Not bitching at you Denga, just explaining the chat log in the image. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Bax, that's not entirely correct.

In fact, I gave you several pointers during the course of the game:

08/13/06 21:21:57: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): don't get locked into a bombing mindset
08/13/06 21:22:04: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): bombers are pretty expensive and all

08/13/06 21:36:59: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): someone take a constructor and plant a home rip?
08/13/06 21:37:05: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): that'd be kinda useful

08/13/06 21:42:18: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): boost2 would be super useful

08/13/06 21:46:06: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): bax, df2 would be insanely useful for our miner hunting efforts

08/13/06 22:01:21: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): emp mines

At which point, because every single one of those was ignored (yes, we got booster2 later, but only because I picked it up as floating tech), I assumed you didn't want me to advise and concentrated on playing with the tools at hand instead.

I think blue would have had more fun if we had some of the right tools (boost2 for overall mobility, minepacks for dogfighting the ints, emp mines to help our SFs on defense), but overall it was a decent game /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I don't think that was the issue, we were locked into a being bombed mindset, besides, I never saw that and it doesn't make a difference really. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Never saw that either, nor can I recall what you're referencing. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

08/13/06 21:42:18: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): boost2 would be super useful

Another of those never saw them comments, perhaps if you used pms they wouldn't be missed. If I did read it at the time, my thought would likely have been why would I give them boost2... mind you now drinking my coffee I'd know that Ints use afterburners and not boost. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

08/13/06 21:46:06: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): bax, df2 would be insanely useful for our miner hunting efforts

Yup, my complete dumarse mistake, speaking of which plama2 would have been very nice as well. I of course got df2 immediately after your comment and plasma2 sometime after iirc. Keep in mind that once we had sfs we killed all their miners, of course it was not as effective as using df2 and plama2 earlier on. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

08/13/06 22:01:21: ^Dengaroth@RT (GB v RT): emp mines

I may or may not have saw that, if I did it certainly wouldn't have proded me to get emp mines... if you'd have said emp mines are xyz and will help us abc then yes, poof we'd have had them. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Again, still not bitching. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Keep in mind it was a practice game on EoR and our team which had unsurprisingly many GB on it, were mostly not familiar at all. Myself hadn't commed EoR since before 6a, and I certainly wasn't expecting to be as poor of a Belter as I was, plus other changes took me by surprise. I read the change log though it wasn't something that gave one the familiarity without playing it.

Thanks for the help you did provide. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Such a fun feeling driving my distraction bomber, eyed since launch, right up to their sup with a single turret and blowing it. None of it was my doing, Kart had them all podded. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I think next time we should try for a 50/50 mix of GB/RT.

My 2 cents.

Thanks GB for a fun game.

Yup I agree, in future mixup games maybe we should pick one squad then the other?

Either way, thanks to GB for a good game, hope you all had fun, I know I did (until I dropped /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> )
