I'm thinking ... mounds, hills, trees, rocks, boulders, rivers, lakes

Lakes cannot be crossed by normal ground units, but you could have some sort of hovercraft or something.

That would be pretty cool.

You could also have patches of terrain that are buildable.

Kinda like the equivalent of rocks. Meaning that you cant just put a base anywhere.

you could limit the amount of buildings that needs a certain rock to each sector!

eg there is only allowed to be 1 building that requires uranium rocks to build in the sector between the teams!
when that base is destroyed the amount of building allowed is lowered by 1!!

Another idea:

The Quantus equivalent of the F3 view screen would show terrain and have icons for vehicle positions and movements.

Allegiance's F3 screen is literally just a top-down view of each sector; it's not like, a representation. You can even see gunfire and stuff. So Quantus' would probably be the same.

By "vehicle positions and movements" do you mean, vectors and stuff? like, little lines pointing in the direction a vehicle's going, and the line length depending on speed? or what?

Yes, like vector lines. (or an exhaust trail)

Something to replace the sig trail in alleg, if you know what i mean.
