Well I've tried running alleg in windowed mode with TEK by the side but it just doesn't work because the virtual joystick option is screwed I think because Alleg is windowed. So I was thinking if it would be possible at all to add an equivalent of TEK into Allegiance, say an F key (F10 or something) or at least at the Esc menu. I think it would be pretty neat to have it inside Alleg and not have to Alt-tab when you want to see some details, it could also help in things like sb runs where you input the respective data and you know the exact distance at which you will get eyed and other stuff.

Toughts?

One of my original plans I had (before I became admin and lost all my free time) was to make an overlay for TEK similar to TSOverlay.

It would draw a mini HUD on top of Allegiance, and possibly even hook into the game to extract live info to keep your team's techtree up-to-date. You could quickly switch between targets via hotkeys/menues ingame to know very quickly how close you can get to that enemy scout with your shields up but missiles down.

I'd still love to get that done, but there's a looong list of higher priorities ahead of it.

Anyone wanna carry the torch?

My Blog:

Planned project that will show core data of the core you are playing on in F1 or a duplicate of F1. But yeah, like TE, this is a long long way off since I have several other projects lined up in front of it (F1 2.0, training missions, videos, allegtraining.com). Maybe someone else can get to it sooner? heh

Oh cool, you guys take your time.

On a related note, would a pocket pc, with windows mobile, be able to run TEK?

I have no idea. If that device runs the .NET framework then i guess so.

You could use the Terminal Services client to connect to the desktop of a different machine than you are playing on, and have that machine run TEK for you... Requires an extra machine running windows XP or better, and a networked PPC.

Is TEK using all .NET managed libraries, or does it use any C++ runtime stuff?

In response to TE, I actually started trying to write something vaguely like this, although I was thinking of providing more general advice for new players. My plan was to use the log files to catch in game events.

The biggest problem was getting the overlay to work. I found a bunch of examples which didn't manage to overlay over fullscreen 3d properly. TSO does it using some really deadly bit of hacking dlls and refuse to say anything more than that because they're worried about it being commercialised.

I decided it's probably easier to make it part of the alleg client in the end.
