Yeah. If you go tac and you want to keep the enemy from bombing you, I'd suggest bombing them. Takes away some response D off of miners. Also if u dont kill @#(!, u buying time for ur econ and SBs.

Buying bombers against giga early on is just an unnecessary setback in getting adv tech. If you go exp against giga, you should never be forced to buy bombers. Then again, it depends on team you got, but the concept of not wasting 10k at the cost of some stress and capslock usage to make your team dis/mini down giga lt stuff is usually worth it /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

You played what, 2 squad games? Please stop posting about things you have no clue about. Thanks.

Fever wrote:QUOTE (Fever @ Oct 30 2007, 07:49 PM) I notice when I try commanding, I always try to resist bombers if possible (which has been pretty much every game)

but i think there are some situations when you should/ i have been very tempted to buy bombers

any vet commander want to enlighten a newcomer to the game when its good, when its not good to buy bombers?

Some reasons to buy bombers:

- If you are completely screwed over, dont have tech, and are turtling. Hvy bombers is a niceish investment.

- If you are the following factions: Rix on small maps where enemy is like a sector or two sectors away. Bios, belts, or technoflux (partial the technoflux bombers if ya can)

- If there is a tech base close to one of your outposts or tech bases

- If you have a strange syndrome that makes you press the invest button in the garrison investment screen.

- If the enemy has went tactic ( you better hurry that bomber order there )

- If the enemy is bios ( chances are they won't be able to muster a large enough defense force to counter you , make sure you strike below a 15 minute mark because they'll be doing everything they can to get out of their crap tech stage.

- If you hear "Inbound enemy cap ship!" you should probably either get caps or bomb, providing you have enough cash. Hopefully your scout found their shipyard and has said "They have a shipyard!" voice chat, (unless they dont know how to qc which if they don't fever then.... I.D even K. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I hope this helps the "omg wtf, bombers omgzors!" topic /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

No I am not a vet commander but I do know SOME basics on buying bombers, and I felt since somebody wanted others to give tips, it's my duty to help ANY player no matter what my rank ( I was a vet 1 once if it makes you feel better ) . Tis my nature...

Hope this helps /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Fever wrote:QUOTE (Fever @ Oct 30 2007, 11:05 PM) hmm this game 2day, where i was IC sup, enemy was nix exp. I see their expcon enter into a sector i had a tele in. Its about a 5k distance between tele and Urock. Bombers were not brought, i had 8.7k in the bank. Small game, so not enough ppl could react fast enough to kill the expcon. I reasoned that we probably could have bombed it, but it was risky depending on team, so i decided against.

ended up winning eventually, galvs and tp2, but i just wonder if it coulda been ended a lot earlier. yea it seems pickup teams are much better nanning/bombing that defending against them
Guess if you knew you were Sup/TP2 as a primary path early enough then you need the bombers anyway. Before or after you get the sup depends on what you want bombed I suppose (?)

neotoxin wrote:QUOTE (neotoxin @ Oct 30 2007, 11:41 PM) Funny how no one mentioned 'bbr' up until this point...so by saying "wtf is a bbr?" in a thread about bombers, you pretty much gave your satirical self away by answering your own question... /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Maybe he's heard the word, and had a hunch, but wanted to varify that bbr meant bombers in a forum about well.. Bombers!

Really? From the way you construct your sentences, I never EVER would have guessed that you beat him the first time.

I'm aware that you can back up your talk, and that you're better at this game than I am. It's just a shame that under all that ability there's a personality that strikes me as borderline sociopathic.
