OK, getting that microsquash stuff, re-using r4 installer, ill check and make sure the dlls copy over but I have to re-copy my old artwork folder to save myself agonizing trouble later.

AEM wrote:QUOTE (AEM @ Oct 18 2007, 11:44 AM) edit: and my question before I meant what happens if you run Allegiance.exe in your Allegiance/Beta folder
It just crashes, I get an option to report the error online.

AppName: allegiance.exe AppVer: 1.1.0.5684 ModName: allegiance.exe
ModVer: 1.1.0.5684 Offset: 001326c0

What I ended up doing was manually copying the files over from the installer, it didn't install the dlls in the beta folder so I did that and all the other files in the artwork folder and the quickchat manually. I got that c++ vis studio installed, and started up via the allegiancer4beta icon on my desktop, and..... here is what happens

I take the beta mode off, get the same. :(

edit:

after re-reading your last post, it doesn't seem like the installer has copied 'the old dlls' from my allegiance folder to the beta folder. Is there a workaround? (such as copying every DLL from my allegiance folder to the beta folder?)

Very odd, I used that second installler link you gaveme and the installer worked fine. Beta is full of dlls now... testing game

OK, when I originally copied the fresh artwork folder, I had installed allegiance to d:\alleg (where my default folder is D:\allegiance)

So.. I am using the installer again after deleting D:\alleg, we'll see /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

edit2: %&$*^%!!! Installer doesn't work (doesn't copy the dlls like it did into D:\alleg when it existed)

Need that workaround :(

OK, rebooted machine... reused installer... it created D:\alleg and put a bunch of dlls in D:\alleg\beta so I just copied everything from D:\alleg into D:\allegiance, and the r4 icon wont launch (crashes), the only way I can use allegiance is via ASGS icon, and then beta mode gives me the same old

I give up... I can't even play regular allegiance now... I'm gonna go play tremulous for awhile...

You didn't manually copy the files from D:/Alleg to D:/Allegiance or just rename the directory did you? That is what it sound likes. That will break your Allegiance install because your PC's registry will tell Allegiance the files should be in D:/Alleg. You'd need to reinstall Allegiance to D:/Allegiance or rename the directory back to D:/Alleg.

I did... and I renamed d:\allegiance to d:\alleg after a reboot, and.... it works!

You truly are wiser than I.

Thanks for all the help, see you on the faz!~4

you can go into the registry and change the paths, but it's a little complicated.

I have the latest beta, but it's still giving me the 'Invalid Signature' when it wasn't two days ago. It's quite odd.

What version of the beta do you have? The version is reported in the <esc> menu.
build 07.10.16 is failing the check at the moment and that is the latest one.

I think Tiger is working one something this weekend that may impact the check of the beta.
