Wiki: Development
I was having a discussion with BV regarding documentation of game mechanics based on the allegiance source. I've written several pieces already (currently on the RT wiki), and I now have both the blessings of BV and of my squad to move these articles over to the alleg wiki.
BV suggested these belonged under the Development section. They may warrant their major section, or perhaps they belong in a subsection of development under "Game Mechanics", I wanted to figure out where to put these articles before I started moving them over.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure why BV's blessing matters a ton here, hes the Enforcement dude /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
I don't really know where to put your stuff mostly because I don't know what it covers. For now, just make a new category called "Game Mechanics" or whatever you'd like and we will sort it out. Until we actually see what you are writing about though, its hard to categorize.

If you want to edit the timeline you'll have to go to this page:

I made the "released core" small text because I don't feel they're that important.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
Are Allegiance Wars really part of development?

(Even more when there IS, in fact, some documentation about this project!!!)

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
Oh! I looked through that page yesterday... Missed it!...
I just meant that there could be a line or too, in "Development" overview
http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/Development
with that information: VC++, DirectX... whatever more. It just looks like the sort of thing one would put in a summary.
But I got the info! Thanks!!!

That's very welcoming! :-)Bunnywabbit wrote:QUOTE (Bunnywabbit @ Aug 16 2011, 05:57 AM) Feel free to add to the wiki as you see fit![]()
(since this is about my 3rd, or so visit!)
Well, I don't have the privileges, but I think a sentence like this would look good to end of the first paragraph (before the "index"):
In this page.
Code: Select all
Allegiance is developed in VC++ using DirectX.And if someone more knowledgeable would care to add/correct something... ;-)
