?
if the image is hosted off site like 99.9% of all images posted on these forums, there should be no bandwidth issues since it isnt your bandwidth used when its displayed on these forums.
he is referring to the forum re-sizing large images, e.g.
that is 1600*1200, but in the forums its shrunk to 600*450.
you still have to download the whole thing (ok, this one is hosted on site since i was lazy in finding an image to post and used the "screen shots section, even though its a desktop, not a screenshot)
but given that 99% of all alleg screen shots posted here are 800*600, i think that would make a better limit since we could see them without having to open them in a new tab / window (given that people wont stop posting them in img tags)

What about making it a user option? As default, let it be 800x600, and then those with crappy net connections or use laptops can hit the resizing option. It's lame to be brought down to the lowest common denominator. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Or use the existing option of turning off image display in posts? (I use it, makes the forums so much quicker to browse)Raziel wrote:QUOTE (Raziel @ Jul 17 2007, 11:25 AM) What about making it a user option? My settings.
Avatars = Off
Signatures = Off
Images = Off
Result = very quick forums.
QUOTE (Madpeople)(given that people wont stop posting them in img tags)[/quote] Given that most people just copy and paste the link and let the parser handle it seeing as they wouldn't know an img tag if it bit them.
Elephant's right. This is a forum, not a photo gallery.
If it's too big to put in a post, link to it.
If you prefer being fancy, include a thumbnail in your post that links to the real deal.
