The error I get is this:
The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
Can't get R4 Beta to startup.
Thats the message that comes up in Windows Vista when you don't have the 2005 Visual C++ SP1 Redistributable, follow the instructions/link in the pinned R4 beta thread

OK haveing spent a great amount of time trying to get r4 to work and after 3 days of frustrations,i finally hit it.
1.download the fazr4.zip file- extract into a empty folder in my documents.(its important to extract into a empty folder.
2.Cut and paste the artwork folder that comes with it from your EMpty folder to your your alleg real artwork folder, say yes to replace all.
3.download the installer - also extract or save into the empty folder
4.start the autoinstaller,install the cc++ package, then hit install r4
5.dbl click on betar4.exe in empty folder
6 and yer golden
