I just popped in on one of the newbie servers. 6 v 6 game
Settings were: low, low and scarce. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Is this a sign of the apocalypse?
The world is ending as we know it!

Here's a summary of the typical game for you.3 or so people in the lobby begging to try command. One team's commander is a hot shot and won't let anyone else command and the game starts. With settings on outrageous he'll buy every base he can right from the start. And then from then on he might just upgrade shipyard technology. And lets even limit this to a 2 teamer to keep things simpler. The other team's commander is playing his first game, doesn't know what a commander is, and they will have nothing researched. On top of this he's probably AFK 90% of the game.Midway through the game half of the players on each side will have stopped donating.Nearly everyone on each team will be flying around in their own sector, possibly shooting at a base with their gat gun or in a bomber dogfighting an interceptor. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if at any one point there were more people in the game dogfighting in bombers and shooting bases with regular guns and missiles than blowing up bases in bombers or dogfighting using their fighters.By the three hour mark with no side too far ahead, at most 3/4 of the map is scouted out.The imbalance setting is on NA or Auto and one team gets considerably more players than the other and eventually wins due to their superior capships finally outlasting the other team's basic fighters who were never quite able to destroy that IC exp. Of course if that team was giga instead of IC the game would be in favor of the non-giga team. Now there certainly are better games than others but the kind of scenario above probably isn't uncommon.Bacon wrote:QUOTE (Bacon @ Jun 14 2007, 01:34 AM) I would enjoy watching one of these all newbie games... see how they play it.
I'm sure we all played exactly like they are when Alleg was new, but we thought we were complete badasses.
