Hey MadP -- by your definition, anything that alters your gameplay is a "gameplay change" that needs to go through the senate?
Wouldn't that mean every single faction add, perk, nerf, or refinement, or indeed ANY change to ANY core file, server ini, or GUI mod would require a senate vote?
Do you see how that argument is a strawman yet?
Seriously, there were threads about this in misc dev AND FAZ Public for *months*. (2+ for reference)
They even got cross-posted to general and gameplay whenever someone felt like raising cain about whatever random complaint ailed them at the time.
I saw a lot of the posters in this thread interacting with those threads. Some of you even fought HARD for this feature because joystick users had "an unfair advantage" and are now complaining about it.
wtf?
Do I need to start a yahoogroup for "allegiance drama inventors" to give a select few of you something completely irrelevant to whine about just to keep you from clogging up the dev team?
Launch animation is screwed up in R2!
I love the new change.

second sentence refers to this_SRM_TheBored wrote:QUOTE (_SRM_TheBored @ Aug 3 2006, 11:45 PM) I understand what you are saying in the first sentence, but not the second. Though the first point may be true, boosters compensate for the lost acceleration (Which usually doesnt matter because you ent up turning anyway).
when flying, turn your ship a little with the mouse. now try moving your ship with the mouse so your ship flys perfectly straight, without turning at all. it is nearly impossible to do as you usually end up turning very very slightly (i think i did it once, and only once), you usually have to press g twice to disable and then enable mouse control to get it to fly perfectly straight
QUOTE There are very, very few times where I would really need this. well, i guess that's fine for you. i do like to have it tell me if i am eyed when i launch a sf/sb or htt/bomber, before you didn't know if you were eyed while launching and then loose it in the animation. (i really cant remember what it was like before my mod, so some things i mention may already be in)

yeah, peace?
no, only changes that effect everyone go to the senate.Bard wrote:QUOTE (Bard @ Aug 4 2006, 03:02 AM) Hey MadP -- by your definition, anything that alters your gameplay is a "gameplay change" that needs to go through the senate?

i.e.
game client changes
changes to things like newgamescreen.mdl (game settings file) as it effects all cores.
core changes are core specific. you don't like those changes, go play another core
game ui changes, you don't like those changes, don't use the ui. you want something different, make something different.

i complained about it as soon as i beta tested it. i was told to try it more, i did, and then i complained again.
they didn't do anything about my complaints / comments, now i'm just making sure the argument is strong enough this time, so next time madpeople foretells the apocalypse, people may consider doing something about it.
but anyway,
i think this change would be great if we could toggle it, because i can see times - like recapping a rix op - where this would be good. but as it is now, it isnt good.
but since it is getting changed, madpeople is happy /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> and all is well /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I use a mouse, and I like the change.
Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
