Inability to move? Click minimap -> ship moves towards a useful vector. If people want's to find that useful vector by manually by voodoo magic or whatever that's fine by me, but don't force me to do it.

QUOTE The option exists, and it's not disabled. Turn virtual joystick off before you launch and you can click your CortUI'd minimap as often as you like while watching your ship autopilot to that sector.
From the original post:
QUOTE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. You shouldn't be expected to remember if it was enabled or not when you docked. There is NO reason to disable the "toggle mouse control"-button during the animation.
Edit: You do know that the toggle is disabled during the animation, right?

Right - and there was NO reason to disable mouse control during the launch animation either. So, a compromise was added that allowed mouse users to optionally control themselves during the animation or not.

And yes, the button to enable/disable it in mid-animation is not active. That's a holdover from the original MS code that prevents that (and many other actions) from being done.

If it's such a pain, someone can patch Allegiance for R3 to allow all keys during the animation.

Until then, realize that this is a *CHANGE* to Allegiance that grants additional abilities to you as a pilot. As with any *CHANGE*, it will require you to *CHANGE* how you use Allegiance. Please approach this *CHANGE* under that impression. Remember that *CHANGES* take getting used to, but if they afford you additional abilities then you are better off in the end.

Is it really that hard to change your usage to tapping 0 before launching?
Or if it's easier, get used to tapping 0 just before your ship docks.

Either way - if you change your habits, this change will prove to be useful to you.

If that's the case this *CHANGE* feels like it was done before it's time. You fixed one thing and broke another. *CHANGES* like this should be optional not forced.

I have lost the ability to direct my ship towards my target about 50% of the times i launch (I may have gained the ability to spin around like an idiot at launch though).

Is adding that obstacle really enhancing allegiance gamplay? There is no way to tell if mouse control is enabled or not until you launch. If it's off you have to wait out the animation and lose gameplay momentum. The only other time when the game is as little interactive is the seconds you have to wait after you get PK:ed.

Maybe you felt that it was unfair that only CortUI users had the minimap on all screens and could put the two seconds to good use, but wouldn't it be a better solution to include the minimap than to punish "advanced" players?

Because us mouse users click on the map while launching to auto pilot to the aleph while in animation. Turning off virtual mouse before leaving base is just one more thing us mouse users are gonna have to do... It's just a pain to have to add one more thing to your ritual of leaving base.

I hate it but I am also waiting for the opportunity to use it during an HTT run.

Nothing was broken. This change gave you the OPTIONAL ability to use your mouse as a Virtual Joystick during the launch animation. You still retain the ability to use your mouse as a pointing device during the launch animation.

Also, since the key to enable/disable Virtual Joystick was disabled in MSOriginal, was disabled in R1, and remains disabled in R2, nothing was broken. That button behaves exactly the same way you are used to. The only thing *ADDED* was the *OPTION* of using your mouse as a Virtual Joystick.

Nope. Again, the devteam felt that it was unfair to ALL MOUSE USERS that they couldn't match ALL JOYSTICK USERS and use their input device to control their ship's orientation/thrusting/boosting. With this update, mouse users can now dodge basecamps just as easily as joystick users.

Or, if they decide, they can leave the mouse in pointer mode and launch straight... or they can launch in VJ mode and not move the mouse too - you have the option and nothing is "forced" except a small change in habit. In the end, you retain the old functionality with the ability to use NEW functionality.

$%^£$£$ site just lost my post (some sql error)

anyway, tries to re-type post

before i could click on a sector and ap to it, camps were fine because any sector was likley to not be directly infront of the base, and if one was, i would know about it, AP would put you on a streight course, which would let you have fastest accel.

now, i have to spend more time in base (i like full controll of my ship while i dock), else i spin around randomly as i try to move my mouse to the minimap.

with the minimap i can start to rip to other sectors during the animation, on RPS i am even in the new sector at the end of the animation.

now, allowing us to turn it on and off DURING the animation would be FANTASTIC, and everyone would be happy.

so why are you forcing a change that people clearly are not happy with, and not changing it when you can enable/disable it during the launch animation.

p.s. as a gameplay change, has the senate voted on it (i believe the senate needs to vote on gameplay changes)

hmm, lost some of the effect in the re-type

mouse users can change direction just as easily as joystick users without virtual joystick.
infact, i would say we could dodge faster with using minimap and not VJ, because with VJ your more likley to overshoot and have to correct a few times (SLOW!!!) (plus it is virtually impossible to get your ship to fly streight with virtual joystick, you have to disable and then enable it to fly streight with the mouuse), with minimap you are put on a streight vector (not the same as the one you launch on) and can boost faster because your not turning. (if you want a direction between the ap one and the launch one, you press boost while you turn

you dont get it,

noone wants to fly streight on the normal launch vector!!

we want to use the minimap to choose a usefull vector

No we can't. It's impossible to remember wether you enabled or the virtual joystick or not before you docked every time you launch. I use that button a lot. I like to know what's going on everywhere, so I often fly into a base checking sectors by hovering over the minimap. Then again, sometimes i don't. And the minimap launch feature is most useful when you are REALLY pressed for time, so why add yet another thing to the launch ritual?

The point is, you people have forced me to change how I play the game and I hate you for it.

Ninja edit: Oh, and sorry bout all the bitching, I like all the other stuff you've done. Great job :)
