I would like to see it changed, you should start at 0, and go up 1 for each kill. A pod kill resets you to 0. Now that would be cool. Make kill bonus mean something, get rid of the 50 limit too.

KB makes sense, the more you kill, the easier TO kill, much like practice makes perfect.

Think of KB as more of a indicator of how much you are in the ZONE for a game.
