Ello,

Everytime a hostile craft fires at me, or even in my immediate vicinity, my FPS drops something fierce. I have absolutely no idea what causes this, I've messed around abit with the graphics settings to no avail. I've searched these forums and the Knowledge Base but I've not found anything to help me with this.

My system:
Win XP
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
1.8GHz, 512mb RAM
Radeon 9600 (Catalyst 6.7 drivers)

Most important: What sound card are you using? What driver version?

Hurm, I'm not so sure. It's a built-in card. Apparently, Realtek AC'97 Audio on driver version 5.10.0.5890, but my device manager also mentions 'Legacy Audio Drivers'. I really don't know much about sound cards.

Try to grab new drivers. Test the different settings in the game (high, med, low sound quality, Sound accell on, off)

I never had luck getting my AC'97 card to work right ... I bought a sound card just to avoid the issue...
But I bought a SoundBlaster Live! which also had a similar problem ... So then I got a SoundBlaster Audigy for too much money and upgrade my system ... and no more problems ...
