Setup: Belters vs. IC, pinwheel. Belters research bombers. IC builds an op middle. Belters bomb the op, IC scout drops prox in front of the bomber and kills some nans.

Narrator: In this video, you will learn how to drop proximity mines to defend against a bomb run. Although dropping mines at an aleph is very effective, it is also possible to kill the bomber with mines in open space.

Take a scout and load it with proximity mines

Fly to the aleph. Come to a stop 150m from the center of the aleph, aligned with and facing the center. Fly forwards slightly, and stop. Backthrust, and drop mines at 150-160m while flying backwards. This will cause your mines to drop in front of you. Repeat this until you have no more mines.

This time, the bomber has entered the sector before my team has had time to mine the aleph. Fly towards the bomber, and aim beside it.

Drop mines 600m in front the bomber. In this case, the bomber pilot did not have time to react and flew through the minefield at full speed.

Let’s watch this in slow motion. At 600m, the mines will activate as the bomber reaches them.

Let’s watch this from command view. The scout approaches head on to the bomber, and drops proximity mines close. In this case, the bomber does not have time to react and flies through the mines. A smart bomber pilot would see the scout, predict where the mines will be, and avoid them.

Bios scouts are especially deadly as they can use heavy cloak to drop mines without being seen by the enemy. Dismount your shield to reduce your signature.

Let’s watch this from command view as the blue team sees it. The Bios scout is not seen until after it has dropped its mines, and the bomber pilot does not have time to react. The bomber flies through the minefield at full speed. In this case, the nanite scout pilot reacts quickly to save the bomber. Without a good scout escort, the bomber would be dead.
