Welcome to the best game you never played!
Countless paragraphs could be written about how this game is so different than any other you have played. Plenty of them are available here so I won't waste your time.
You have been directed to this page because you are a brand new player and we want to help you get started the right way! The community has setup help for new players that we hope you take advantage of in the form of the "Allegiance Flight School".
What is The Allegiance Flight School?
The Allegiance Flight School is program of forum-based and in-game help for players who are new to allegiance. It gives guidance on what to read, a private forum where you can discuss the game with experienced players, and a tag you can put after your callsign in game which attracts the help of experienced in-game players.
Why Should I Join?
Allegiance is a complex game, with many players who have been playing for years. We believe the experience of Vets can help you learn and enjoy this game quicker. To this end AFS provides the following...
- Access to a hidden training forum with links to lots of information sources about Alleg.
- We run in-game training on a regular basis (which is not mandatory)
- You get any questions you have answered promptly in the private forum.
- You get the ability to PM on the forums from the time you enter AFS (a privilege normally denied to those forum accounts with less than 10 posts).
What is expected of me?
Nothing. We expect people to be respectful of others, and to attempt to learn this game in the right way. Being an ass will get you removed from the program. If you are not interested in the flight schools advantages - feel free to continue to jump in-game, and read the training on the wiki, and around the allegiance forums to help you learn it's complexities.
What do I have to do to join?
You need to create a valid and activated game account and a valid forum account before you can join the flight school. The Forum Account's Display name needs to be at least similar to your ASGS callsign.
- Instructions on creating a game account are found here -> http://asgs.alleg.net/asgsnet/newaccount.aspx
Note This account needs to be activated, by being used to login to the game at least once.
- Instructions on creating a forum account are found here -> http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=00
Note This account needs to be activated, through email.
Then you need to fill out the form, with these account details. If it all goes smoothly, you will have access to the AFS forums within a few days. If you haven't got access in a week, post up in the main forums for attention of the course Admins, or email notjarvis, the Training Zone Lead.
What Can I do now?
The vast majority of the reading is available on the wiki. Read the linked pre-reading articles linked at the top of this page to get some background. Then, for in-game info. Continue with week one of our instructor written Cadet training course. Of course if you wish to see all of the lessons - check out our index of basic training.
