juckto/IGH

When you die in other games you may have to wait 10-20 seconds to respawn. No problems. In Allegiance, when your ship is destroyed you are placed in a lifepod - a slow, weak ship with no weapons

You can't do anything until you fly it home, get rescued, or get killed ("pod killed" or "pk" for short). It's boring for the person who is podded, but more importantly you can't help your team. You can imagine that a team that has half their pilots in lifepods versus a team at full strength is at a major disadvantage.

This is why it is important to do what you can to respawn as quickly as possible. And, if you're not podded, help someone you find who is!

Dock at a friendly base

Press "B P". You will autopilot to dock at the nearest friendly base or rescue beacon. Not always the quickest way to respawn, but the easiest (and a great time for a snack break).

Get picked up by a friendly ship

Colliding with a friendly ship will instantly transport you back to the nearest base. You can use the "Need a pick up" voicechat (see "Moving and Talking" section) and hopefully a nearby friendly ship will pick you up. Sometimes there are no friendly ships nearby, so don't spam the voicechat.

Destroy your pod

If your lifepod is destroyed you will instantly transport back to the nearest base. You might be shot at by enemies, you could fly through an enemy minefield repeatedly, or you could ram an enemy ship (try to pick a big, slow moving one). Ramming enemy stations or asteroids will not kill your pod.

Friendly lifepods

If you ever spot a friendly lifepod while exploring, try and pick it up! Not only will it increase the manpower on your team, but hopefully that player will return the favour next time you're podded!

Enemy lifepods

Whatever you do, DO NOT kill enemy lifepods! The enemy player will instantly respawn and be back attacking your team in no time.

There are some situations where you want to kill enemy lifepods, they are covered in the flight school lessons.
