You can right-click on a sector to send a chat message to friendly pilots in that sector instead of the whole team.
Your autopilot does not always map out the fastest route. For example, if I have a forward outpost near enemy miners, I will need to dock, transfer to this outpost, and then launch, rather than flying from my garrison to that outpost, docking, and relaunching.
While docked, click on the base transfer screen. My team has an outpost in <sector> I want to launch from. Clicking on this sector transfers me to that outpost.

In this lesson you will learn how to use the minimal.

This is your minimap. It is an important tool for situational awareness. You can show and hide the minimap using the F7 key. For this lesson, I will assume you know how to toggle mouse control on and off.

Click on this arrow to expand the minimal.

The top of the minimal displays ships and bases in the selected sector. It is important to note that the minimal only shows what your team has detected. Hidden enemy ships are not shown on the map. The right side of the minimal shows the type and number of special asteroids in the sector. This sector has <number and type of rocks>

Its a good idea to always fly with the minimal open and expanded. The main map displays every sector as a circle, and lines represent the alephs connecting them. Hovering your mouse over a sector displays information about that sector. If your mouse is not over the minimal, it displays information for the sector you are currently in.

The minimap is important for navigation. Clicking on a sector while flying will cause your ship to autopilot to that sector along the fastest route. If your ship is ripcord capable and a friendly teleport receiver is near or in your destination sector, you will teleport to the selected sector.

Sector names are not consistent, so players often refer to sectors by describing where they lie on the minimal.

For example, on the map HiHigher, "Midhigh-left" refers to this sector

When a team has a base in a sector, the sector changes color on the minimal to indicate which team controls the sector.

There are several indicators which show on the map. This yellow triangle indicates which sector you are currently in.

This flashing indicator means an enemy ship has been detected in the sector.

A thicker red indicator indicates an enemy ship which can kill or capture a base in a sector your team does not control.

This flashing yellow indicator indicates an enemy base killing or capturing ship in a sector where your team has a base.
