QUOTE Is it just me or do the top 2 or 3 squads take pretty much the strongest from other squads or cadet consistently?[/quote]
They didn't become the top 2 or 3 squads by recruiting the weakest.

I thought PK had closed recruitment a year or more ago, and it kinda annoys me everytime another person gets added to the roster "cause they're good and we don't want the competition to get them".

Anybody come up with a set of rules for this?

This thread reminds me I really like TA's idea for a thursday ladder or something like that...

TheBored wrote:QUOTE (TheBored @ Jun 26 2008, 12:02 AM) Shut up.
since teebz didnt explain this very well, let me clarify, you sir, are a moron

nextly, you should think about the fact that PEOPLE choose SQUADS not the other way around, this isnt like the military draft, or even the NFL, because squads tend to be made up of people with similar likes and interests because they ATTRACT people with similar likes and dislikes.

please be aware that any further thinking you do should be on admin preview

No such thing as closed recruitment, never will be. Tighter recruitment sure... never closed though.

Good grief, I think I need a MrChaos style sig to tell people when I am kidding. SPQR is the weakest squad = we'd get first pick. A joke.

Yes, if I was being serious this would be idiotic.

To drag this back on to topic, yes Spidey it does happen. I've seen many good RT players join other squads in the last few years (and MrC left too) and it sucks for us, but then it's good for them presumably (except for Drizzo, that poor lost wandering soul) and as I class most of these people as friends then I wish them all the best. Hell yeah it'd be nice if RT could have all it's whores back, I honestly believe that we'd be knocking on XTs door very very loudly with a good show of our past members.

But it's not a fixed thing. Not long ago SysX was by no means a top squad, you lost regular games to us ffs /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> And you shed players who can't bear to lose like there's no tomorrow. PK and XT did very well out of your hard times I'm sure. But now you guys have clawed your way back up to being a top squad and therefore should be on the receiving end of the player drift. So it's not a completely static situation.

Another thing I feel compelled to mention is that not all squads are around for just the competitiveness, and not all people are in the squads they are in because they are strong players looking for a strong squad.

No few RTs could doubtless get a spot in PK, XT, or Ace, if they wanted it; however, RT is not about winning, so players who find themselves looking for a social group with a wide variety of interests (mostly geeky, I'll grant) typically drift our way, even from other squads.

Maybe it just so happens that most of the top-quality players aren't really looking for the kinda of tightly-knit family atmosphere we have in our squad. *shrug*

As far as my stance on the matter, I never like to see a player leave the squad, but if they're happier where they end up, and they keep coming to the IRC channel, they're still part of the family. Plus, if we won all the time, we'd lose the element of surprise.

And what prompted this thread, spidey?

You did beat us last week fair and square...

I'm sad that RT has lost so many of their members to other squads (some to us indeed), but its a hideous circle. We lost people during our lean phase (Xodius, Keeps, et al). We've stopped recruiting new cadets almost entirely. Hell, we even rejected Weedman! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

HAHAHAHAHA I like it, make all squad games start with a maximum 10% variation in HELO, you sir are a genius, have a bun.

#Edit: How about we have, no limits, uncapped games and introduce handicapped HELO regulated games. Give me half of that bun.
