I was reading Alleg academy and i saw there are many cores out there..

when i log into ASGS and see the server list using FreeAlleg's download link -- which core am i on? are all the servers listed runnign the same core?

also - if i ed up laying a different core will i be downloading a new server set f rules or will i need a fresh install? (just so i know how major a change a different core is..)

thanks

look at the server names, they usually look like

[server name to tell you who's server it is] [ core name, to tell you what core it is running]

e.g.

EUGPZ GoDII

EUGPZ means its the EU server
GoDII means the core is GoDII

Planet DN4.50

the planet server
running DN4.50

you don't need to install anything extra, it comes in the auto updater if you don't have it

DN or Dark Nebula, is the most commonly referred to and played mod, we tend to call the "Cores" here

Actually GPZ is becoming very popular.

Mostly because its vastly superior /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Riiiight. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />

Planet does more then it's share.

Please don't spout bull@#(! about xyz being better then abc, it's complete crap.

Lag is relative, GPZ is mostly unplayable to me because of distance and hubs.

Too bad. Lag is tolerable for most US players on the EU server.

That's an assumption that most US players have no issue. And considering the number of players that say GPZ is unplayable, it's hard to say if that assumption is smoke and mirrors. Regardless, I like GPZ as more servers from different places means more ability for players to enjoy themselves, and as a bonus, occasionally splits up players when things are busy. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yeah well all servers are around 100-199 for me and that's fine!

Go Laggers!

Plus I would not have thought it was THAT hard to tell what server you're playing on...you do look at the thing you're clicking on, I would assume. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
