Idea to promote Allegiance and get new players
boe wrote:QUOTE (boe @ Oct 15 2012, 06:17 PM) This is simple. English is very much needed to play this.
This game has no other language interface.

Yeah your info is outdated, come play again.
There is not many "rude" people anymore.
Newbies are quite welcomed, and ban's are mostly for being unresponsive (AFK) for too long.
Wtf is this real or your fantasy ?
hm borg had members from sth africa and russia and im sure i remember seeing some spanish players too

SouthPaw wrote:QUOTE (SouthPaw @ Aug 22 2010, 09:59 PM) Some gunship pilots take QF because it is funny to twat a full load in someone's general direction. Good advice about life in general that.
I believe it's been discussed before and if I'm remembering correctly (don't hesitate to crush me if I'm not) an admin could mass email all members via some 'news' function. Presumably there was a 'receive emails from moderator/administrators' checkbox on sign up, but most people probably left it on. Most of our players are quite old (we peaked at what 06? 07?), so I wouldn't bet on anything higher than 25% still regularly using the email they set up their account with. That said even getting 10% of those people interested enough to take another run at the game would triple our active playerbase. Have a lot of our regs show up on the day of and after the email and the games might be good enough to re-addict some old friends. Bigger playerbase means more newbs stay and maybe even a couple keyboard warriors start catching a game here or there. Just like we lose players now because we have few players (though recent efforts seem to be reversing this a fair bit), we will gain players if we have more players.BOSS_Keeper wrote:QUOTE (BOSS_Keeper @ Oct 16 2012, 12:13 AM) I got a small suggestion for keeping this game alive. Revive the dead!!!This forum has thousands of people registered, all who have interest in this game. Some people might have just forgot about this game or have moved on. I suggest that someone create an e-mail reinviting them to this game, possibly highlight the new ACSS system or the new factions? Maybe target people who have been inactive for 6+ months?
If you get 10% to come back and play, that's an amazing amount.
I see 15897 registered forum members... Would take some time... Start e-mailing 50 or 100 a day?
Anyone up for the task?
Not it!![]()
I think this was kind of an ace in the hole that no one wanted to use until everything was prepped for it. We really only have one shot at it. Just off the top of my head I remember the installer giving a lot of people trouble the past couple years (fixed with ACSS?) and the closed forums probably turn a lot of interested would-be-downloaders away.
As for debugging with ACSS, the final product ASGS install already had some problems. We're never going to get everything perfect. I'd say open the forums the day of and a few days after the email at least (I don't see how closed forums prevent people from signing up by passing captcha and the secret 'seven' question, and then posting spam anymore than open forums do) and finally fixing the keymaps file. I know it's a tiny problem but it takes 5-10 minutes per noob to sort out and they're flying under a massive handicap (to add to the learning curve) with the current file. Returners will have to deal with this too. It's probably a small factor in losing players, but a little frustration can go a long way.
Oh and we should stop putting this off. 10/10/12 was a big day for space sims, we have a good chance at building some momentum... Excuses have been made for a long time, but a lot of people are actively working to help Alleg back on it's feet. Nows as good a time as any, before any more defeatism sets in. Fix the easy things if they are easy (closed forums, keymapping), then `cg

I have been typing in ones I typically type when looking for new games and haven't seen the ad.
Click on above link. I decided to let it run for a week before i make any changes to get an idea of what's going on.
This is what I found so far, Google is ranking the destination URL (freeallegiance.org) low and it's effecting the ad campaign.
Reason? No sitemap, no sitemap at bottom of every page, no contact page or about us page, no privacy policy or TOS page and updated material.
This not only affects the ad campaign but also search results without ad campaign.
Google ranks your ad and url destination and decides when where and how to show it, also budget is considered.
Hope to get in touch with tiger so we can add these necessary changes to freeallegiance.org or landing page has to be changed.
