Map Control

Why your team needs to control the map

In an average game there are two teams, you're on one of them the enemy is the other. These two teams are seperated on the map by a minimum of 2-3 sectors, that's a lot of potentially hostile space, secure it and make it yours and your teams.

Miner Offence

With forward bases (ops, teles, tech etc), your team has easier access to enemy miners. Instead of flying through 1-2 sectors, getting eyed and giving the enemy team enough time to get a defence set up, your team can be knocking on the next door aleph.

Tech Base Defence

With forward bases (ops, teles, tech etc), your team has a buffer for end game tech (bombers, htt's etc), the enemy either has to destroy or fly through the sector the the base is in before they can reach your teams important bases.

End Game Offence

When you finally get end game tech, being able to launch as close as possible to the target increases the chances of success. Having to fly through 2-3 sectors always gives a good team enought warning and time to set up a defence.

How to take the map

It will be a team effort of either protecting your own cons or attacking the enemy teams cons. Sometimes it may involve bombing or defending from bomb runs.

Exapansion
  • Has to take the map with ops, otherwise the int has to use its valuabe fuel boosting through sectors.
Supremecy
  • Can take the map with a combination of ops and teles.
Tactical
  • Can take the map with a combination of ops and teles.

No matter what tech path your team or the enemy team is you all have the same goal in mind. It is just a question of who can do it first. With killing miners and getting better tech on both your minds it comes down to who has better map control, make sure it is your team not theirs, other wise your fighting uphill.
