There are 4 steps to playing Allegiance.
- Download and install the game.
- Create a Gameplay account.
- Learn how to play.
- Join a game online.
Many new players think they can skip step 3, but at a bare minimum you should go through the 7 Training Missions.
Download and Install
- First read through the Terms of Service and Rules of Conduct.
- You will need to agree to them before creating a game or forum account.
- Reading them now can save you some time if you find you don't agree with them.
- Download the game by clicking here
- Run the installer
- Comprehensive installation directions here.
- If you have any difficulties, visit the Tech Support Zone.
Gameplay Account
Your gameplay account is the name you will have in-game. You cannot login to online games without one.
- You can create an account here.
- It will be associated with any computer you play on, this is to protect against cheaters circumventing callsigns.
- Be careful you don't link your name to someone else's machine!
You will also want a forum account sooner or later.
- Create a forum account.
- This should match your main gameplay account.
Learn How to Play
Allegiance is a complicated game to play. I know you may be eager to jump in and try the game out and see what it's like, but please, please, play the seven training missions first. Otherwise you'll just annoy other players by asking fundamental questions like "How do I fire my boosters?"; and you'll be very lucky if you find someone willing to explain things that are already covered by the training missions.
Important! The Training Missions teach you everything about how to "play" the game, but nothing about how to work with your teammates, how to be useful to your commander, how to win the game.
The training missions are the tip of the iceberg with regards to learning how to play Allegiance. As an analogy: playing the training missions is like learning how to hit a golfball. Taking Allegiance Flight School is like learning which golf club to use, what the layout of the course is like, what obstacles you need to avoid, and most importantly where the hole is.
Join a Game
With the previous 3 steps complete, it's a simple matter of running ASGS, logging in with your gameplay account, and joining a game in the Free Games section.
- You'll probably want to start at the Newbie server.
