How do you set way points. I know that we could many years ago.....

From the F3 screen, right click to give other teammates a waypoint. If you just want to give a waypoint to one player, select them (either by left clicking them, or drawing a box around them, if several) and then right click for the waypoint. You can also do this to give yourself a way point, which will engage autopilot and start flying you there automatically.

If you're looking for multiple waypoints, that never existed.
You can give a GO TO order.
From the F3 view you can set an arbitrary point in 3D space as well as targets.
Check out flight school on wiki.
You can use chat and VC as well, a bit more advanced...

also in f3 if you hold down right click instead of just clicking, you can control the Z axis of the waypoint
