Update: This issue has been resolved for me via a Steam update, I can now play with Windows XP
Hey, I have been getting an error with Steam....
I have Steam working and I have Allegiance on it, but when I try to play Allegiance I get this error message:
QUOTE An error occurred while updating Microsoft Allegiance (invalid platform)
See the Steam support site for more information[/quote]
When I click the link it takes me here:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard ... 0&error=29
Long story short, I am guessing that this is because I am using Windows XP service pack 3
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Allegiance in Steam a few times but I get the same error. I am able to play Allegiance through the non-steam ACSS system as before and I have not made any changes to my system.
Anyone using XP and getting this error or have any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Win98SE,
As it happens I also encountered the message you received when attempting to install FA on several Windows XP machines.
You should check the following:
If you're lucky enough to be using an AMD processor then you need only a K5 or above. Might be K7 (check on the Free Allegiance game description on Steam).
If you are unfortunate enough to be using an Intel processor then you will need a P5 (Pentium D or Pentium EE) or later
Pentium 4 processors will not work.
Also you will need 2GB or more of RAM
Those are minimum requirements for the game to function on Steam.
Let me know if that helps?

Thanks for the help,
My system is not exactly super old, just my OS, lol. I have an Intel Core2 Duo processor and around 4 GB of ram.
I also have DirectX 9.0c, but my graphics card is a bit old, its a NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE. Alegiance still works for me, just not through Steam.
When I try to play through Steam I have 4 options:
Play Microsoft Allegiance
Play Allegiance in Windowed Mode
Play Allegiance with Video Setup
Play Allegiance with Beta Features
I get the error message immediately afterward no matter which one I choose.
Maybe I should play with the settings a bit.

Then it is odd that you are getting that message, since your hardware clearly exceeds the minimum requirements.
That said your' computer can run the 64 bit Enterprise Version of Windows 10 LTSB, very well . I can suggest a path to accomplishing this at minimal cost if desired.
see my page at http://computer.befreetech.com and send message from there if you're interested to know more about that. Best to you.
