Still plugging along after all these years, producing the same type of extremely multi-variable intense action every time. It's never old because we are always new.
Allegiance is still the best game I've played when it comes to freedom of play and strategy. The strategies are really limitless. When it comes down to the minute side-thrusts of a pilot determining the outcome of a game, Allegiance is a game of skill. Players with skill excel. Which gives the impetus to gain skill one would think, in much larger numbers anyways, I digress. Zombie-Allegiance is still a game that is better than I've ever played. I'm STILL learning.. I'm still adapting. This is one of those games that you can play for life and I plan to. We played some 13v14s today and it was damn fun. I'm glad to play this game with you all.
2017 is going to be a good year for Allegiance. Already we have CortUIand OMB's new android alert. The gg's are always there if you have time to look.
Ode to Allegiance

As a pilot aiming is an important skill in this game to be sure, but being in the right place at the right time is more important. And the easiest way to be in the right place is to have it come to you.
In almost 7 years of Allegiance the time in which i learned most about the game was when my connection sucked and I had so much permanent packet loss I could barely fly straight properly for 3 month.
Besides other things I learned where to go before it was needed back then, effectively because if I didn't go in advance my packet loss would ensure I wouldn't arrive in time at all

Fun times. Lets have more of those!
A personal tip for how I learned this game and got to where I am: After every game, take a short moment reflecting on what you did wrong and what you could have done better. It does not matter if your performance was on first view flawless and the rest of the team sucked. This is not about aim, though it can be. Its about decision you make. Should you defend or attack, fly an int or a scout, would it have been better if you were in a bbr doing a distraction run or with the main run, would it have been better to try to predict the enemies movements or to pray and spray, etc. Find at least one thing, find a way you could have done something better, explain (to yourself at least) why it would have been better - or at least not worse if you are not sure its better - and try to remember it the next time you are in a similar situation. It will help you improve. Be it aiming, situational awareness or your commanding skill, this method works on everything. Slowly, but steadily is the motto. (From personal experience I recommend getting situational awareness to the level you mostly do what (at least decent) commanders want you to do before being told. After that faster improvements can be made by learning to command, since it gives more time to gain insight into the whole situation of the game. Aiming skill is completely separate here.)
To make this more effective find a learning buddy, get into a voicechat with them (for example our mumble) and talk about every game you play together for a bit before the next one starts. Flying in formation is not a requirement, but may make you more effective in game. Try it, compare results and figure out what works

PS: The servers are not limited to Sundays. Lets get online on more days!
Still ready to teach anyone who asks nicely whatever they want to know about playing alleg. Contrary to popular opinion I do not eat newbies. Voobs taste much better.
I would but you're never onPhantom032 wrote:QUOTE (Phantom032 @ Jan 9 2017, 12:44 PM) To make this more effective find a learning buddy, get into a voicechat with them (for example our mumble) and talk about every game you play together for a bit before the next one starts. Seriously though, I almost always love talking about Allegiance and theorycrafting bull@#(! about it (that's why I asked to be core dev). I have pages of notes in various notebooks, multiple spreadsheets keeping track of little things I've discovered, and a couple gigabytes of screenshots and videos not just of games but of things like "sidethrust mashing vs sidethrust use" and "relative size of scouts at 300m." If anyone wants to do post mortem via voice, poke me in game.

Yup! I spend most of my time idling online because even if there aren't games, sometimes I can peek and there's a 4v4 or a 5v5 I can join and fly around in.
Also, +1.
Not only is this game insanely fun (though at times frustrating because I'm a hypercompetitive person), it's also introduced me to the world of game design which has become a personal hobby. I'm not kidding when I say core dev is the most fun thing I've ever done.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.
