Heyo, I've been playing FreeAllegiance for a few days some years ago and after having received an email recently I'm thinking about giving it another go. Now I remember I've had trouble reading the ingame text, especially the chat on the top of the screen while outside a station.
Is there a way to change font size and font color? I've got a screen resolution of 1680x1050, this together with dark empty space makes the default small, dark-colored font extremely annoying to read.

This is probably not the answer you were looking for, but my recommendation is to lower the in-game resolution. I have always found flying seems easier at lower resolutions even if the graphics might not look quite as good. This may also make the text easier to read. I never use anything higher than 720p (so 1280x720 or close to that).
It is possible to change various font sizes by editing certain game files, but there is no in-game option. I can't recall if there is any easy way to change the chat specifically though.

I've got the same resolution gfx/monitor, but I always play Allegiance at 800x600. The sheer quality of gameplay supersedes the graphics; which are decent anyway.

Size is hardcoded.
I did some experiments and found the line which defines font size of in-game/lobby chat pane.
This requires a code change, to make font size adjustable for only in-game chat pane via menu or depending on screen resolution.
