A few days ago I smoked a j and drank a few beers with one of Toronto's Finest (he's as white as you get too). Toronto cops are pretty lenient too. Last month (djrbk can attest to this) we had people smoking and drinking in the middle of the streets, girls walking around pretty much naked. Toronto police had some cops on foot walking around making sure no fights were happening but other than that they were just enjoying the good times (and amazing displays of public indecency) like everyone else.

Cue to cops in the US of A shooting mother$#@!ers like its going out of style.

TELL ME GREAT MINDS OF ALLEGIANCE, WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO?

Combine a conservative paranoid religious right, the aftermath of 911,middle class wealth dis-appearing into the pockets of the Oligarchy, racism on the rise since "the downturn" and returning soldiers frustrated from having to save the world from everything...and you get this kind of $h!t.

Also, please don't judge all our cops by the action of some departments. Some are very reasonable, while others are like this.

This post made me lol :D . But on a more serious note, things like this seem to happen quite often in the [Police] States. I blame the processed food, it makes everyone crazy. Oh and the 300 year history of racism, slavery, segregation and general hatred, there's also that. Ancient grudge break to new mutiny, civil hands unclean etc. etc.

The world IS becoming rather scary: more surveillance, more crime, more war (Iraq: Part 2 anyone?), more hatred, more consumerism, more obesity, more obscurity, less equality (social, political and especially economical), less understanding, less safety, less satiety.

More than that, the world is just plain weird, one half of the world dies from too much, the other half from too little. One half prides itself in "freedom" but will ignore it in the pursuit of security, the other half, so far removed from either that they have nothing TO ignore or lose or give up. One half complains about everything all the time, the other half doesn't have the means to complain. One half has a problem with people living too long, the other half with people dying too fast. One half preaches peace, the other half dies for it. One half enjoys the comforts of modern society, the other half suffers its immeasurable costs.

The decision-makers are indecisive, the negotiators, uncompromising, the popular representatives, extremes. The few have many, the many, few. People we should trust, lie. People we should protect, die. People we listen to: either critics or hypocrites, never truly sincere. Celebrity to the irresponsible, attention to the inconsequential, fascination with the irrelevant. Distracted, deluded, dumb, deaf and pretty soon dead.

These are our lives. These are our times. This is what the world is coming to. And yet, the still greater paradox: the eternal parable of immutability, of nothing new under the sun. History is a spring, we move upwards, but we do it in circles and all the while we're screwed.

And so, "man hands on misery to man, it deepens like a coastal shelf; So get out while you can, and don't have any kids yourself!"

Good rant. Poetic even. I see these dichotomies and reversals everywhere. If something should be a certain way, you can count on it being the opposite.

To the original question, the world has come to exactly the same place it's been all along - evil.

Having lived in the town that above picture was taken in...

that whole thing was so overdone. They had approximately five years to stop obstructing the path and then were warned they were going to be pepper sprayed (notice how they're all looking down and many have their hoods up).

Sorry I just happen to have grown up there XD

Before everyone joins in a rousing chorus of "O! Canada" (myself included), I should remind everyone that Canada has a pretty homogeneous populace (i.e many white peoples). The irony, of course, is that America is even more homogeneous (enough white to put mayonnaise to shame) with about 77% being white. So...I don't actually know where I was going with this........

O! Canada! Our home and native land....
