Our friends at MSR the maker of this game and the engine for the rating system Duckie hates so very much have published a paper

the 16-32 players in an instanceous bit
anything over 100ms starts the whinging and 200ms makes them angry bit
I'm not posting the link for that

Rather Im here to point out they want to develop a game to test a theory of really big scrums of up to 900 players really all in the same area...

Now 900 players in the same sector would destroy the game balance and how but large numbers of players all in the same game and occasionally in the same sector... it seems to me that we can give them a quick, free, way to test the early versions of their theory with a game they already own, hell they authored it, and we get the perk of getting the $#@!ing for absolute may it burn in a couch fire for @#(! netcode fixed with something cutting edge.

Ancient code, legal reasons, no interest I can think of about thirty more things (Blake420's every growing 80ft tall earwax statue of Noir for example) why it won't work but wtf not give it a try.

Go directly to Solap or one of the others if talking to him its a bad idea and offer the suggestion of Allegiance as the test bed and casually mention how sick their baby is right now. *shrug* What can it hurt? After all they released the source cide to the public because they wanted to do something for their first love ;)

What else does Allegiance need?

(I miss McWarren hope his Llama farm is a success)

Interesting ideas, including yours Mr.C.

That paper is now six years old so it's hard to easily tell what progress they've made.

I did find out that 'Donnybrook' isstill a thing, however it seems a curious side-project at best.

I'd like to take this opportunity to delegate the task of reaching out to the Donnybrookers to Mr.C as it now officially one of his babies.

Well @#(! six years old

Having someone random former player approach them is not the right way to do things at all. I do not even have a tiny bit of juice and can not promise a thing or talk to details of things.

If that was an empowering move than: Well done but *points up*
If that was a do something, anything useful or stfu toolbag: Well done but *points up*
