I initially liked the idea of deleting figbees from your core. But games over the weekend made me wish there was some craft costing a fortune that could break a deadlock
Exp endgame is Htts
Tac Endgame is Stealth Bombers (after buying bombers)
Starbase Endgame is Heavy Bombers
Sup endgame...well....its AB3
I commanded two games over the weekend.
one was Adv Dreg sup vs IC Adv Sup
The other was Adv Dreg Sup /Adv Exp vs IC Adv Exp / Sup /Tac
I also was involved in one Adv Sup vs Adv Exp
In the first one, it became a stalemate. Maxed Sup vs Maxed sup means Heavy bombers only, and even with AC3, bomb runs would go down to dumbspikes as they would be eyed by EWS3. CR7 even bought gunships for escort to whore our figs but even that wasnt successful enough.
The second ended up being He3 mines saving dreg until we could get an exp and push cons
In game 3, We had a full team on a Tp2 Heavy bomber run with nan2, but without XRM, the whole team was podded 2k from the Exp on a 4k run with 50% defenders with Mini3
At present there is no economic solution for sup endgame...nothing to mine a @#(!load of money for that can give you the edge over the other team. Except maybe buying another tech and maxing it out. But if that cant happen? what can you do?
Figbees come to mind, even though you removed them.....but maybe if you doubled their cost it can be considered if another tech base cant be ground out.
Or maybe something like a Assault shield for heavy bombers.
I dont know...but Sup needs something so it isnt just a bolt on tech to ensure Exp or Tac victory.
But this is your core, if thats what sup is for, then I can live with it. It just wont be the first choice of tech.
Can Sup have its own endgame?
Aleph res, fly 2-3 bombers into a sector with ac3 gunners, and fly in an arc towards the base while you pod everyone so you don't get dumbspiked, win.
or fly your bomber behind a carrier so it can't get dumbspiked and then when enemies close in you can just drive through the carrier and shoot forward.
con pushes while bombing? multiple bombers from different directions? build tps behind enemy alephs and rip around?
use your imagination. bombers are fine.
if you fly straight into dumbs then your bomber will die, regardless of your tech level.

There's a new sheriff in town.
I didn't get why figbees were tied to SY (i.e., large game). Were they considered too overpowered in small games or something?

I didn't remove fighter bombers.
But they are tied to sy.
Here is what I am planning on doing: (and if you want to read more, look at the wc02 post)
remove the shipyard flag for fig bombers
as well as for xrm, xrp
cruise booster
and vanguards
these are all available whether sy is on or off
I think carriers shall remain tied to sy flag, because they are too good for offense and usually miner offense is what I mean, if not killing, simple harassmnt in a small game.
Yes I believe Noir tied fig bomb to sy because in small game, they are not always stoppable?
it goes both ways, they are weak in smaller numbers, but there are fewer defenders to stop them

I agree carriers are too awesome for small games, can we please though have weaker Lt Carriers with less energy.
Frankly it's one of the main reasons I don't fly the core usually. I'm not even talking offensive using carriers but for getting home faster, pod pu, all that is important option for small games.
Also SY is available at start without a tech base, I'm fine with that but making the connection makes sense too.

What if standard carriers were just weaker, by about 1000 HP
they have 3000 hp, thats like x3 of a standard miner
drop it to 2000
giga lt carrier 1500

That could work, something like;
enh carrier tied to sy?
Side note, and it's really just a nit pick in general so please excuse. I've always found it weird it went light basic enh, instead of light basic heavy.
Code: Select all
cc03 wc03
lt carrier 2500 1500
carrier 3000 2000
enh carrier 5000 4000
