What's preventing people from playing in the Planet server (on America prime time)? Is it only because the stats apparently don't count? Server crashes often?

It had a couple of crashes last time I played on it. Don't know if that's still a thing.

The turret crash bug is still alive and well on Planet I believe.

Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.

Nope, Aarmstrong updated the server a few weeks ago. The turret bug is no longer present on Planet.

Planet still has the same old problem with restarting TAG, after the game server crashed. That means no game stats will be recorded until server reboots or someone restarts TAG itself.

If you look at the submitted game logs (in database), there are several weeks without any game submitted by Planet.
