hmm relevant data: JS: Saitek ST 290

Op Sys: WinXP

Not sure what is going on, was fine until we ditched asgs but now...

I join the game, I launch, my ship flies fine for a few minutes, usually 2 or 3 then it starts spinning to the left. I tried unpluging my usb and re plugging it which has worked in the past but to no avail. It seems to fix for a bout ten seconds then starts the same thing. I can go into my windows screen and yup it's out and pulling to the left. I can re calibrate and it works for about a minute after I get back in, then same thing. Seems allegiance is the only program this happens with, so I don't think it's the joystick. Until I can fix this I can't fly. Any ideas?

If you're running Allegiance with a different user account as you account you're logged in (logged in as shotgun (limited user), but Allegiance is running as Admin user account), you should calibrate your joystick under the user account Allegiance is running. Joystick calibration is a stored within the user profile, took me several days to figure that out ... :P

Also, make sure you're joystick settings are zero.

This problem has nothing to do with calibration. We can rule that out because the stick works fine and then it doesn't.

If a joystick "centers" (self calibrating) when it is not centered, it will exhibit those symptoms you describe. If a stick becomes temporarily disconnected from the PC, and then when connection is re-established, it will assume the current stick position is center. That is what I think must be happening. Check your connection, try another USB slot, maybe try it through a powered USB hub.

I bought a new saitek JS a while back and have always had this problem. Tried everything but went back to my old precision pro.

Ledfist,

Did the problem with your saitek only happen while playing allegiance?

If so, it could be a sign that Imago never got the saitek stick working properly. I know he spent a lot of time on it.

That being said, I know for a fact that Allegiance has joysticks screwed up. Jump in a turret and try to track a target with one and you'll see.

moot point now

Yeh only with alleg. Everything was mapped correctly, everything functioned properly. But instead of flying straight it spirals :/

Just as I suspected.

Unfortunately, these joystick problems don't look like they're going to be fixed because we don't have any Devs who feel joysticks should work in a game like this.

Have you tried your precision pro in a turret? Try tracking a target while you zoom and unzoom. Completely ruined the game for me since the release of R5.
