We could really use a clean, attractive "Allegiance-in-a-nutshell" animation to serve as the new visitor's introduction

This is something solid and useful we can do right now. Key points would be:

*Minimal length. "Pro" editing, no unnecessarily long gameplay sequences - just enough to highlight parts of gameplay the rest of the video is talking about. Think 2-3 minutes total.
*High res gameplay video - in game text should be readable.
*Powerpoint style charts & diagrams to simplify wtf is going on with the game. Could use some creativity here, maybe iconic images of ships and bases could be used. Simple animation on these charts (sliding elements, extending arrows etc) and transition effects between them and into the gameplay footage sections.
*Good voiceover. You can write a script and have someone else do this.

Here is an idea, team fortress style.

The Scout - video starts with a scout launching, flies through an aleph, sees miners, calls for assitance.

The Fighter - launches from base or is already out of base, gets a command from commander, accepts the mission, rips or flies to miner location, attempts to kill miner?

The Interceptor - is already out of base but quite close, sees miner has spotted enemy, docks and transfers to base where miner is at, launches from base, destroys the fighter.

The Pod - floats around, gets picked up by the scout, suggests bringing some friends along.

The Fighters - multiple base launches in different locations, command is given-form on my wing, all fighters rip or fly to location, after they have all formed, second command is given-attack my target?, they all boost in going for miner.

The Nanner - ship loadout screen is shown switching main weapon to nan, scout launches from base, flies towards miner, scout is shown nanning the miner, miner docks at base safely.

The Commander - command view is shown, switches to buying screen, bombers are bought or finished off, command is given-attack base.

The Bomber - launches from base?, flies toward aleph, nans are seen flying to bomber, they all go through the aleph.

The Turret gunner - command is given-need turret gunners, transfer screen is shown boarding bomber, turrets attacking interceptors while bomber is flying towards base, blows it up?

The Stealth fighter - a scout or fig/int is looking straight at the sf, sf then cloaks, sf re-appears attacking a miner.

The Capitol class - different cap ships are shown, then a fleet of cap ships are shown, from different turret gunners view points.

At the peak multiple fleets from different factions on seperate teams, colours must be clear.

Final words on screen - Choose your Allegiance!

This is an outline for an intro.

That's cool, another angle is outlining the structure of the game:

"Earth is long gone.. the surviving factions battle for domination of scarce He3 resources" quickly scroll through various faction background pics.. camera zooms through a dense asteroid field closing in on a mining miner..

"Allegiance gives you what no other game can - real-time high adrenaline space combat as part of a strike force led by your commander whose strategy and leadership will determine the outcome of your mission." .. camera shows a garrison with maybe multiple ints/figs launching quickly zooms out, seamlessly zooms out the the F3 view, pans to the same sector on the sector map, zooms out to a big annotated version of the sector map (with arrows etc showing attack routes, defense points and what not) scrolls to the enemy home sector, now zooms in to their sector map and then to their garrison showing some different activity, maybe lots of constructors moving about or people lining up to dock.

"Assist your commander in establishing your presence and building up your base" commander ordering ships and consts in F3, ships escorting constructors, some combat around constructors, constructors starting to build, bases appearing as construction is done.

"Defend your mining operation and destroy the enemy's (commander giving orders to miners, ships defending miners from incoming enemy, ships attacking and blowing up miners

"Eliminate the enemy by using brute force, stealth or surgical strikes" Various assault scenarios showing galving or FB runs, regular bomber run, HTT run, SB strike - preferably with some context around them so the viewer can tell what the differences are - that's where diagrams etc can help

"Survive through coordination and teamwork" Show ships ordering each other in F3 or cockpit mouse clicking, quickchat tactical menu commands with visuals that match and make sense (e.g. meet me at the jump point while showing an aleph straight ahead)

"Test your mettle in some of the most exciting multiplayer space dogfights ever seen" That's where visuals take a priority over context - mainly crowded shots around carriers and capships with lots of explosions.

Just some ideas..
