Pods are an interesting part of Alleg. They certainly pull it apart from many other shooters. BUT. Pods are also a problem for small games. With any 4 v 4 where both comms plant an op in the same sector, whoever gets bombers first wins. Now, in a game where the teams are 20 v 20, the defending team will almost always have more defenders to not lose their garr with, not to mention players coming in from NOAT. So, in order to replicate the environment of bigger games, I'm going to switch pods off whenever I have gc in games less than 10 v 10. Yes this will make games longer. Yes, this will cause less skilled pilots in a pods on setting. But, it will keep games interesting and noobies involved. Come flame me bro and tell me why this won't work.

It would change the aspect of bomber runs...you would get a few more cracks at killing the bbr

But thats not really a good thing is it? If an entire team gets podded don't they deserve to lose?
All it would accomplish as the OP said is the lengthening of games, but really wouldn't a faster paced game be more engaging for the newbies, so they can feel the sense of accomplishment when the enemy are all podded and they are 2k from the final techbase primed for the kill. So they can feel the thrill of the rush to hunt those miners and put the nail in the enemy coffin, to fly together and use teamwork to dominate the game. What is really fun about allegiance? What is the value of just being able to get back into action if they can too? As a newbie grows into a fully fledged pilot they should get a chance to experience WHY they shouldn't die easily, WHY getting podded is bad

And it hurts the team with more newbies too aswell, the enemy gets more chances to kill them it may just lead a game to stagnate a stalemate which is without a doubt the worst kind of game of them all, imagine trying to stop them as bios adv exp trying to turtle in one sector even with less than 10 players. THAT IS HELL! espically if the runs are eyed, they'll judt die and relaunch the most tedious game you can think of.

In the end, just pick up the pace of the game let the newbies enjoy the rush of hunting down that con, or miner and maybe see their enemy floating home. All putting pods off will do is slow the game as a whole even if they can get back into the action faster, there WAS a reason M$ added the pod mechanic and i hope you can see it.

TLDR: @Tango RAGE RAGE WALL-O-TEXT FLAME FLAME BAD IDEA RAGE

Think that sums it up.

With regards to bombing, I heard it makes bomb runs less OP - eh, when are bomb runs OP in small games if you probe properly?

I'm pretty sure to make the overall idea work you need to bump up turret strength. There may be other issues too that I can't quite think of.

I do agree with the point that it may make smaller games a lot more playable with the exception of bombing. If you want to see a pods off core with better turrets, that's doable.

thing is there is never enough man power in small games, if 1 player goes to probe it cuts 20% of your force to go hit a miner d a miner d a con attack a con. . .

First time I read the end of your post I read it like this and I was very confused, then I realized the grammar went in other places.
Learn to use a damn comma.

Actually, you can feel free to command as you like. If ANYBODY doesn´t like it, then HE can command. Commanders we are lacking, complainers we got plenty... :ninja:
