Hello!

Im suggesting two things in this thread, AI turrets and Thorium Fuel Cells:

AI Turrets

I'm here to finally suggest something that was in my wishlist for allegiance for a long time, an automatic turreting system!
Well, of course most people will dislike this this, but let us be realistic allegiance hardly has enough people to support turrets for nans and bombers, and i love to go 1v1 against my friends, and in such cases an AI turret would greatly help.
To balance this new feature, the AI, because of the hardware processing units and complications of actual aiming prediction tecnology, causes their turrets to lose some of its normal range, because that the turret has its effective range reduced due to the CPU of the Turret AI.
Buying and installing this system requires specialized equipment and professionals, so you can only research this AI system, after you set up at least two advanced tech bases, advanced garrison doesn't count!, and installing an AI into a turret also, slightly decrease your armor(-5%), because of all the processing and turret management equipment the AI moves.
Taking trivia aside, here what i'm speaking about:
AI Turret has -20% range;A ship equipped with one AI turret has its hull decreased by 5%, stackable, so a devastator with full turrets has -20% hull;Installing AI turrets cost 1000;An AI turret act exactly like a tower AC, so all we do now is enable the system to ship turrets;Researching AI Turret tech costs 6000, and requires two advanced tech bases and an advanced garrison; In case youre playing Omicron, and you install an AI turret on the AB slot, that AI shooter will prioritize bases(sorting by their hull value, bigger hull is attacked first IF two bases are in range);AI nan turrets shoot ONLY at damaged ships, by their hull %(lower gets healed first); If you have enhanced carriers, they will gain a free AI nan turret; The AI turret will shot first on your target, when its destroyed he automatically shoots the nearest hostile enemy.

This will make miner o easier and might even make single scouts useful for base defense.

Thorium Fuel Cells

If you played Master of Orion 2, you already know what im speaking about ;) , but if you not, TFC are an advanced self-regenarating fuel cell, to adapt it to allegiance, i thought on making the TFC researchable from the Expansion path, since interceptor functions, depends heavily on boosters.
In the game, after you get Thorium Fuel Cells, Your fuel bar will regen itself in 10 seconds, so you don't have to worry about carrying gas cans, you'll save space for ammo/Pulse Probes.
Thorium Fuel Cells are extremely useful because by using they to generate energy the conventional ways you can feed your normal impulse engines with a better fuel, increasing every aspect slightly,Hulls get tougher due to the high energy running through then(polarized), Shields system get their energy sources enhanced due to the increased energy production, Energy weapons can sustain a stronger shoot with thorium energy, the high energy also makes weapons hit farther with a reasonalbe force, incresing range.
To sum it up, Thorium Fuel Cells are:
An upgrade researchable from advanced expansion bases;Once researched they will make your fuel bars regen itself fully in 10 seconds; The research costs 8000;It acts like GA, so every ship´capable of using boosters are automatically equipped with they; They can be stolen by grabbing the enemy boosters; They also increase every stat by 5%.

Thanks, i hope they get accepted!, can't wait to try a full AI turreted corvette :iluv:

Wrong forum btw, needs to go into Code Bugs & Suggestions.

AI turrets have indeed come up several times and rejected.
Most everything regarding your second suggestion can be done by lowering consumption rates in the data core.

Endless fuel cells... Sounds like an enhanced GT ion booster (which btw, nobody ever buys)...Ints boosting all around the map. Can´t wait to see the balancing implications... ;)

i'd LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see AI turrets. i could finally fly a hvy scout to its full potential without having to wait for a competent gunner

I liked the AI turret idea. But a hvier nerf should be implied to compensate the greatly aim such thing would have.

Ints boosting forever over the map has already been shown that isnt good for this game purpose.

I'd actually like some sort of AI turret.

The TFC acts like GA, so after you get the research done, every craft in the game gets updated and fuel tanks will become useless

One my greatest worries is to properly balance the AI turrets, range nerf is an obvious nerf, but i'm most worried that the AI turrets get overpowerful

Well, they wont become OP becuase there is so much you can do to them to nerf it.
You can fiddle with how accurate they are, you can tweak the AI target priority. And unless they code it right, you could have the turrets eye your ship accidentally by shooting at @#(! you don't want to shoot at.

They should try to balance it so that a decent player is always better than the AI, unless the player is desperately needed elsewhere. I think it should be a tough choice weather to take a solid turret gunner, and lose a nan. Or have a decent to "dickbutt" level turret gunner and have an extra nan.

Or I guess it would be kind of cool not to have any player turrets at all. Means more ints/figs/nans on the run. That also makes it harder to defend, and unless the enemy is defending in turreted ships, its like they are down players.

LOL, imagine tp drops with 6 bombers ripping in, 12 AI turrets... good luck to the first responder on the scene
