Planetside 2 is SOE's upcoming MMOFPS. Large-scale combat between three factions - the Terran Republic, who are Imperialist scum with a focus on high fire rate weaponry and spamming as many bullets as possible, the New Conglomerate, who have a focus on hitting hard and taking hits and are clearly the best faction, and the Vanu Sovereignty, xenos scum that employ hovertanks and laser garbage. The game will have a population limit per continent - 64km^2 of land on a continent, by the way - of several thousand players. It's also free-to-play - there will be no up-front box cost, but the game will use the typical monetization model of "convenience and cosmetics, but no power available" for real money.
It's the game I'm most excited about in the near future, and every new piece of information I see about the game (the developers are incredibly forthcoming with information, screenshots, etc on twitter and interact with the community on a daily basis, which is pretty awesome) just makes me even more excited for it. That said, I'm playing NC, and so should you because it'll be $#@!in awesome
