goetia@afs had a lot of fun recently with stealth fighters and we talked about how cool it was to sneak around undetected and "strike from the shadows" as it were. i share the same playing style (im not much of an in-your-face dogfighter, ill kill you, then the miner, kind of player), so i'm excited to share with you some practice time where you can try your hand at this silent but deadly fragile ship.

here's your reading homework to familarize yourself with some basic concepts:

1. sf
2. sig

stealth fighters use energy weapons (typically util) to damage miners. this means that even after you run out of missiles, you can still potentially kill an unlimited number of miners/constructors which is not the case with other ammo-based ships. all this awesome power comes at a cost though... you cant take a lot of damage... if you are discovered and you fail to lose the "eye" you'll pretty much end up dead.

in this lesson, we will discover not just "how" to kill but more importantly, "when" to strike. timing is everything and if you can catch a defender asleep or a have a momentary lapse of judgement, that might just be all the window of oportunity you need to get that miner kill!

we will also go into even more advanced and sneaky sf tactics that will surely put you in the above average category of players. just remind me to cover these topics if we have extra time:
- how to eye the miner but not the defender (to lull into a false sense of security)
- how to coordinate multi pronged attacks (both spiking with your teams or have one sf attack one miner so that all the defense rushes to save it, then have everyone else attack a different miner far away)

we wont have time to go into these this time around as they deserve their own training session, but if you feel like you mastered all the above topics, here are some extra credit topics to look into:
- tf stealth fighters - how does srp missiles work? what other items can i use on my stealth fighter (plas gens, probes, etc?)
- rix stealth fighters - how does combat drones work? what other items can i use on my stealth fighter (prox, probes, etc?)

instructors:
just run a game on pinwheel with both sides giga. all newbies on one side + instructor on one team, have another instructor to build more miners and perhaps a nan or one int on miner d, for advanced variations.

KEYMAPPING
prior to lesson please have your keymaps fixed. when in doubt, use mine, that way i can tell you exactly what to press to do something specific.
