Guests (bots) don't need to read forum topics/forums (see squad forums for regular users), but they should be able to see that there are more sub-forums with "life".

I thought we had opened it up in the past, and we ended up with some very entertaining viagra threads from spambots as a result. In fact, Fuzz only just recently changed his avatar from the Cialis doc to his new fangled one...
My memory of how exactly that happened is kinda hazy now...

So it doesn't matter if it's open or not.

Even better would be if forum accounts and ASGS/ACSS accounts were integrated together (so you would make one account for both), but that would require a bit of messing around with the forum software at minimum.
