Looks like the rebels have finally neared the finish line. Although i had mixed feelings about whether or not to deploy ground forces in Libya, i think that the rebels paying for the end of the ghadaffi regime with their own blood makes more sense.

Wonder how long it will take for them to take complete control of Tripoli? Then the interesting question of who will come to power next....

Its interesting to watch, however I feel even our limited involvement in controlling airspace was intervening too much on our part.

They did it so that they'll have pressure on the next government with a friendly eye

This is precisely why we need to butt out of international politics and conflicts.

The secular side of things is getting severely out played by the jihaadist side of the rebels. Or they can all sit down and make a country that is beneficial to all with wide spread freedom in all forms they find acceptable... This isn't the first "Arab spring" I think the outcome wiill be religious repression rather then despot repression. Its the $#@!ing oil money that doesn't give the citizens a chance to find their own way of governing.

Well camaro, the rebellion would have surely failed if we hadnt provided support. Im sure we had special forces on the ground organizing and arming the rebels, that much is obvious from media reports.

It ultimately comes down to a utilitarian point of view for me. Did we do more good than harm? I think so here. (not so much in iraq/afghanistan) It was well within our power to positively influence a country of 6 million people towards change. Did we do the right thing? People seem to be happy today, and hopefully things will look brighter in the future

Libya has a big advantage afghanistan never will, the country is much more industrialized (by comparison) therefore better educated as a whole and has natural resources that can fund more than just a brutal dictator's eccentric whims.

Also, most of the current regime officials have slunk over to the rebels with their tails between their legs, much like many of the baathists did. which is another good sign.

hopefully, with the rapport we gained from arming the rebels, we can positively and discretely shape a better government than they had.

Fine, let Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, WHOEVER do whatever they want to intervene. All I'm saying is that the United States of America should butt out of others politics and tend to our own issues at home. While we are at it we should bring our troops home and close our overseas military bases.

You 'know, with Saddam Hussein? or was that Osama Bin Laden? Can't remember. Anyway, this just seems like history repeating itself.
