How much data is sent back and forth when I person is logged into the game? I have a friend who wants to play, but lives in the country and it limited to a Verizon broadband plan with 10 Gigs/Month.

Any tips for people on mobile broadband? (MrC)

I do not know the answer, but given that Allegiance is over a decade old, and was made back when the vast majority of people got internet through the phone line, and when a 10 Gigs/Month broadband plan would seem like some sort of magical voo-doo, I'd imagine it is unlikely that this would need to be a major concern.

Not much (it's playable from 33 kpbs modem)... Mumble eats much more traffic than Allegiance. ;)

PM MrChaos about this.

He played for a while a handful of years back using his smartphone for internet access.
He might know the answer.

Don't forget you have a "Bandwidth" setting you can alter. ESC G B

I can't speak to the mobile connection aspect (and it probably boils down to one's carrier and location - so MrC's experience may not be applicable). As for total bandwidth, I would check my monthly usage from time to time and I rarely ever cracked the 6 gig mark in a month. I'm sure Alleg was only a small part of that. (My home server acts as my business' off-site backup - 6 Desktops and two servers with backups performed daily.)

I play sporadically, but a few hours of gaming on default settings @ 400 ping leads to about 59 Kb/Hr

Ah found it. /Edit: quickly translated to English ;)

During a 18 minute gameplay, mind the KB/MB/B's

Code: Select all

Average         RX    1,01 KB/s       TX    689 bytes/s
Maximum         RX    55,0 KB/s       TX    4,62 KB/s
Total Data     RX    1,06 MB         TX    729 KB

So, if you multiply it by 4 you should have a good indication for a 1 hr data usage.
