Then, I go to the login button, click login, and at the bottom of the ASGS thing it says all the things it's supposed to, then the Wait... button turns green, goes to login, then the message at the bottom of the screen says 'Launching Allegiance' then I wait... and wait... and wait... and then it says 'Logged out' then at the side of the thing where it lists all the steps it is

Er... what does 'unable to write debug log' mean?
Ooh, I forgot.
At the beginning, it says OOBE Failed.

And then, if I click login again, it eventually says 'Unable to secure Allegiance installation'.

Edit: I just tried beta mode, and it's doing the same thing.

I HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME...... But I love it so much. :)

You may need to run it as administrator.

Ok, I'll do this and get back to you. But, I do have a question. Why would they make a game that you need to be an administrator to run? Mom's worried that the game'll try to download stuff onto the computer, but I'm sure that's not the case.

Well, we do download "stuff" from time-to-time. All of them are updates, etc. to the game, but nothing malicious. You're mother is right to be concerned about malware - there's a lot of it out there on the 'net and it can sometimes be disguised as a "free game".

The reason we need administrator right is that this is an old game - maintained by volunteers. When the game was initially released by Microsoft it was in 2000 - before Windows XP, Vista and Win7. Prior to that Windows really didn't support permission levels like it does in later OS releases. (And the default was always "wide-open".) So when they were coding Allegiance there was no consideration for permission levels - it just assumed it had full access (which is what administrator level access really is).

Allegiance was written for Windows 98. People forgot to update installer.

My new installer will allow you to run Allegiance without administrator rights...
