It's Beta Wednesday time again!

Please help us test gameplay!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BETA WEDNESDAY:
If you do not already have it installed, you will need to install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. You should also make sure you have the latest DirectX 9 Start with an up to date Allegiance install (make sure you can play on the regular servers).
In ASGS select "Allegiance -> Beta Mode".
Still in ASGS, select "Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files".
Click "Login". The updater will run again, downloading the beta client.
After the updater has finished, click "Login" again.
Enjoy the beta! Find or create a new game and test away!
When you are done, there are a couple steps to get back on the regular servers.
Turn off beta mode "Allegiance -> Beta Mode".
Revert to the regular client "Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files"
Play as normal!

Don't forget to submit your bugs! and feel free to check out the list of recently closed tickets on trac.

PLEASE NOTE!

This week there are a lot of repeat empty games on the CDN server. Ignore them, you will not be able to connect to them as the server cloud has gone down. Only games listed as BETA will be playable. I've started one myself and will keep it open all day while I sit in NOAT.

(edit -- currently random factions are broken. They display one thing and launch as another. Please do not submit bug reports for this as it is known bad code)

I feel like I'm re-reading exactly those instructions for the 10th time. Maybe put a timestamp on them? Like:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BETA WEDNESDAY: (last change: July 16th)

or so.

That's because you are. The basic instructions haven't changed, only the files involved and the colors and font sizes have. They've been the same since long before I was Dev ZL.

It crashed, when I tried to start ASGS again it says "only one instance of ASGS may be run at any one time" even though ASGS isn't running.

This doesn't just happen with beta.... alleg crashes lead to this message.

I guess it'll never get fixed though since CSS is on its way. Plus it's fairly easily fixed with a log off & on.

Everytime I try to sign in with ASGS it just asks me if I want to repair the files. When I do so it does not matter it simply repeats itself
