Join us TODAY to test the R6 client!

On Wednesday, May 5th, we will be holding anothert major test of R6. Please join us on the beta servers and help us test the new changes. For the uninitiated, we need your feedback on this release! If there is an issue with the new client, we need to know NOW, before we release it as the official build. Instructions for testing can be found below, if you would like to check out the new build before Wednesday.

Start with an up to date Allegiance install (you can play on the regular servers). In ASGS, select "Help > Update / Repair Critical Files".Now select "Allegiance > Beta Mode".Click "Login". The updater will run again, downloading the beta client. After the updater has finished, click "Login" again.Enjoy the beta! Find or create a new game and test away!
When you are done, there are a couple steps to get back on the regular servers.
Turn off beta mode "Allegiance > Beta Mode".Revert to the regular client "Help > Update / Repair Critical Files"Play as normal!

If you have any issues getting in the beta, please see the detailed instructions, written by Fuzz.

(This beta test may or may not be optional, to work out any kinks with the testing process. Stay tuned for more details.)

Folks, it's really in your best interest to test the beta. In the prior release, some folks couldn't be bothered to try it and guess what happened: they failed to identify problems that could have been fixed prior to release. Since the devs didn't know about the issue, they proceeded with the release. And all those people who didn't run beta with their hardware found themselves unable to play. Don't be that person!

What FreeBeer is trying to say is you're an idiot if you don't try to test.

Now that it's established that we are all idiots, let's try to get to the real reason the beta's don't get tested.for starters,it's hard enough getting an even game going on the regular servers, much less over there. We need matched teams to keep people over there.

It wouldn't be hard if people actually went to the beta.

Well, GB tried to train on the beta server. The server crashed/kicked everyone off twice, and we couldn't really get anything done so we had to go back to the regular server.

Both were my fault. I was setting up cc_09 and cc_09b on beta. I'm done now. Announced it to the game I saw and didn't see you guys until I hit create game (stupid eyes). My apologies.

I just logged on the beta server just now and there was no one but me on

I hope no one will start screaming and flaming me for saying this; but ...
I realize we need to test the new release
I also realize that people fire up Allegiance to play and they want to find people and a good game on
We must "make it" so the two coincide (they obviously aren't on their own)

Why not have a "testing event"? A Saturday, SG time. Wouldn't people be much more likely to show up if they knew the main even is on the beta server?
