Hi, i'm fairly sure i made this post or something like it not too long ago. We need someone to make new/fix GT base models. Personally i feel some could stay, but all the doors are terribly modeled, and the stations look like @#(! anyway (especially the pali, my god) so I'm putting out a call for anyone willing to do work on it, you will probably be flamed and thanked by maybe 3 people but such is community service. As i mentioned to compellor a box with 2 doors would be 10x better than the current pali. GT is an ugly faction, so it shouldnt be too hard to do better, and we dont need anything especially fancy (again, ugly faction)

so if you would like to help the community, and can put up with orion trolling you about how horrible your work is then you will have my personal gratitude and i'm sure that of at least 2 other people in the community

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

I actually like the look of the GT bases, it's the CVHs that need to be fixed. I thought someone was currently working on this (Raingriffin, Andon, someone like that)?

There are some good aspects to the general shape of the bases, and I like the idea of making large parts of them look like they're made of concrete, but they lack detail, and what detail is there in the geometry is rubbish. Also they weren't built with CVH files in mind, the palisade especially is a nightmare. I'd have to use twice as many polys as there are in the visual model if we kept it as is. I really can't blame Orion for the quality of the CVHs he gave them, he just didn't think ahead, and then tried to do it with a reasonable number of polys.

I think more than one person has made a go at them, but I don't know if anything was ever finished.

the reason i posted this is because we the cc team DO NOT have anyone on this (maybe ramaglor, but he only pops in once every few months, so basically nobody)

Rain fixed some of the doors. Somebody else also did some work on GT. Which ones still need work?

Compellor, can you post up a list of the bases that need remaking from scratch, and the ones that need some CVH work?

Also, should this topic be moved to the artwork forum?

are any of the other cores even updated?
the pali needs to be redone. the sup doors need to be reworked, possibly the model too to make them wider. The exp fo sho needs its cvh done, same with the gar. the op could use a touch up with its green door, as could the R and tac

I have the memory of a chicken, but I think Rain fixed garrison and the palisade doors, and possibly removed some of the invisible walls on the model itself. Ask spidey for the file Brood.
