What should we be using as a map naming convention?
Just the map name or should we be going with pkk's m2xibblahblahblah?

I personally like proper names, since they're easier to remember and to look through a list for.
There is some logic in the m2x stuff, but it's not really intuitave - it needs to be explained to people [and re-explained to people who've not played in a while]

I dont like pkks m2xibblah. Naming them what they actually are seems the simple way to go, plus when you look on game info you actually get the name instead of gibberish.

well lets look at m2xib
m is for map
2 is for 2 teams
x is for nothing
ib is for ib stole this idea and remade the map
Are any really necessary? Will you really get a file called Topaz.igc confused with cc_57.igc?

In game do they appear as PKK's crazy names? (haven't played in a while).
If they do, change them.

In picking the game settings screen they appear just as the normal name i.e. Topaz
While in game though looking at game settings the map will be called m2xibtopaz or something like that.

suggest code change game info to have map name instead of file name? - Everyone's happy that way.

TBH pkk's system is unnecessarily complex with a limited filname length. Just call it it's name. The wiki takes care of a lot of this data now, or at least it will once it's a bit more populated.

WHY THE $#@! IS IT CALLED
PKK'S MAP NAMING SYSTEM?!
Someone (KGJV?) started it. Since maps and cores use the same file extension, it makes sense to use something within the names to separate cores and maps. You got the same $#@!ing naming convention with MDL files:
mdl text filesmdl modelsbmp.mdl textures
I used m_x______.igc, because it makes sense...
