Map storage
I guess we could put the map files themselves next to the artwork into the repository, when that is ever cleaned up. However, as for the previews (PNGs) and an index, I too would thinks that the wiki was the best place. Easiest way to find them for the players who just want to see what the maps look like.

Will Wait on juckto to give an opinion before starting (or indeed, let him do all the work )

I got bored of waiting for juckto so I made the page anyway. We can attach files, but only as .zips so that's what I'll do. In future I may create a page for each of IB's MapPacks with the appropriate zip attached assuming they aren't too large.
Is anyone else here likely to want to upload maps to the wiki? If so ask juckto if he can make you a wiki mod.
I suppose the only other question is what catagories we want to include in the table. The only thing I can think of that isn't there at the moment is size (number of sectors). Do we want that or not? Each extra catagory makes the table more work to add to.
It's going to take some work but we should be able to get a definitive list of maps up.

For the record these are the current categories:
Name: Map name - for variations the main map name comes first so Limited Diamond is Diamond - Limited - this makes sorting easier.
Creator: Who made the map.
Connectivity (Connections/Sector): Number of connections (not alephs) divided by the number of sectors.
Number of teams: 2 team, 4 team or whatever.
Number of Garrisons/team: How many garrisons does each team start with.
Dowload: Currently DL link, soon to be a link to the file on the wiki.
Image: This will show the map PNG as an image once they're uploaded.
Other things I may add:
Sectors: number of sectors.
Notes: Most maps will be blank here but for some it'd be useful. Like IO would mention the low sig alephs tothe middle sector for example.

Notes could have style: Regular, IO or Special.
Hihigher would be a regular map
InsideOut would be an IO map
Da Vinci would be a special map
Maybe change Creator to Original Creator.
Garrison to Starting Bases, as maps like bowtie gave refs and tps.

I only really want to count starting launch points so the rest of the crap in bowtie would go into the notes. Creator or original creator works fine for me although I was planning to someday include all the maps ever including the ones you've rearranged.IB_ wrote:QUOTE (IB_ @ Jan 21 2010, 10:54 PM) Notes could have style: Regular, IO or Special.
