Would there be any conceivable reason NOT to give the icons used for constructors more detail?

As it is, you can only tell if its a small or large constructor, and not what it actually is. Op/Teli? Garr/Sup/Exp/Tac/SY?


Sure, F6 does the trick, but it would be nice to have none the less. I like to be able to gather as much intel as possible from the minimap, and not opening up windows mid-flight.


Thoughts? Comments? :unsure:

I approve if someone can manage to fit it on the icons and have it look nice.

Perhaps have a letter O / T / R in the top/bottom corner small con for op / tele / ref, and G, S, E, Y for Gar, Sup, Exp, Tac, shipYard

The issue is this: You'd have to make three constructor drones (Reg, enh, adv) for every single base. That means a new drone item AND a new ship item as well. I think the total would come up to somewhere inbetween 100 and 150 new constructor ships.

However, if you could get a code change to allow for the base to set the constructor's icon, you'd be good to go.

That means you also have to create a new drone for each techbase...

8 x Sup/Tac/Exp/SY/Gar + Research + Pali = 42 drone

42 - 8 = 34 new drone objects

Overall you add 137 new objects to ICE, just for these icons... :nuts:

Yeah, not happening. Takes 2 seconds to check on F6 anyways.

Topic is closed. If the code gets changed to where the base sets the icon, we'll consider it.
