New AllegSkill ranks

Hi folks,

As some of you may have realised, AllegSkill works internally on a 0 - 50 rank system. Our current state of play is that AS's internal ranks are 'squashed' into the old 0 - 30 when they're sent to the game servers. There is talk of finally sorting this out and enabling 0 - 50 ranks for all.

This leads to the following questions: Do we keep the current rank bands and scale them to 0 - 50 by adding extra numbers(Novice9, Novice10 etc), or do we leave the mas they are and add two new ranks bands to the top end of the scale? If so, what do we want to call the new ranks?

Discussion would we welcome.

so can this mean that more stacking will occur? If a vet joins a team with his 50 stack points, you take a nubbin (0) then it will take forever to balance the game? Anti-stacking will be a lot harder it seems... Maybe we should narrow the 0-30 band so that games can be more balanced.

It should mean more balanced games due to the system having a higher degree of resolution. Baker will be along shortly with the full explanation I guess.

Baker, do you remember I sent you a ranks by faction type of thing a long time ago? Would that be a good thing implement at the same time?

Very few people will actually make it into the 40+. I'll post what they would stand at in a few mins.

Because the spacing in IPB posting sucks balls, I've put up a text file with the top 250 on the leaderboard to show old ranks from new.

This is NOT a suggestion for new ranks labels. If it was I would just have brought the lines all the way down.

What it does do is convert your current rank to the rank you will be once Allegiance gets 50-based ranks.
