Why is it that I have to click on everything twice in game for it to register? And that's not just quickly clicking it twice, I have to click all buttons twice, slowly (slow enough to not count as a double click), and without moving my mouse between the two clicks, or it doesn't count, and the button doesn't work.

Is this by design? Or is it somehow a quirk of my system that I can fix somehow? I don't seem to remember this from a few years ago..

It's annoying, as buttons are everywhere!

It's a quirk of your system. I don't know off-hand what may be causing it, though.

Just a thought that you might look into:

have you played with a driver lately (perhaps mouse driver), or have some kind of keyboard shortcut script running? It might be something related to that. Maybe run a virus scan or a scan for a keylogger. That might do it to.

Full screen or windowed?
Feels like something windows related in any case.

Hmm, yes, windowed. only happens inside alleg, and only on the buttons/dropdowns/etc.

Happens when:
Selecting tech category in F5 screen (left side)
Selecting order type (on bar) in F3 map
All buttons in game lobby, game settings, team settings
Everything in ship selection screen
Clicking the arrow on most scrollbars
Using quit menu.

Does not happen when:
Clicking the white bar on most scrollbars
Clicking to join rooms.
Buying tech as com in F5 screen.
Targeting/Autopilot objects with mouse in both normal and F3 map view.
Using quick chat menu.

So looks like all UI buttons, but clicking in the 3d window is not affected. Buying tech is the exception that proves the rule ^^.
Switching to full screen did not fix it however.
Hmm..
