This is incredibly unimportant, but I propose formalizing the meaning of missile prefixes.

Right now, Missile is sort of meaningless. There is one Torpedo (MRT AB), which has low starting V and low accel, and can't turn. XRM Torpedo has nothing in common with it, and is clearly a missile as the prefix states (also the name is uninspired, a change would be nice). SRM and MRM Nerve Gas, and XRM Cruise all have similar low accel, low V, but they can turn slightly.

Both Rockets have high V, no accel and can't turn, and fire more than one at a time. You'd think a rocket would accelerate. SRP Killer is no different from the Rockets, except that it only fires one at a time. XRP AB can't turn but has a high accel, which makes it decidedly not a projectile.

We could change the missiles to be more like their names, but I don't think that's a good idea.

So:
LRR Thunder and MRR Lightning should be LRP and MRP
I think typically (in the US military at least) the term rocket is used to refer to unguided rocket weapons, such as the Hydra 70. So it might be better to refer to the XRP AB as the XRR AB.

That leaves us with the issue of MRT AB and the various low-accel, low-V guided missiles. MRR AB might be an appropriate change, but I'm not sure about that. Either way, SRM and MRM Nerve Gas, and XRM Cruise should become SRT, MRT, and XRT respectively.

We can have nominations and a vote for XRM Torpedo or something. First name to come to mind is Slayer. XRM Dumbfire would be appropriate, but boring. Harpoon and Exocet would also be appropriate.

If Orion or Vegeta really hate the idea of changing their missile prefixes then I don't mean to offend them, but I'd like to know what they think would be better.

It's really hard for me to think of the Rixian spiky thing of death as a "rocket."

It also really hard for me to think if the Rixian spiky thing of death as something that can accelerate.

And why does the MRM quickfire 1 have a range of 1100 m, while the SRM dumbfire 2/3 have a range of 1125 m?
And why does the SRM tactical nuke 2 have a range of 1680 m, while the LRM Hunter 1 has a range of 1673 m?

Heh, forgot what the thing looked like. Spiky thing of death indeed. This is what happens when you spend too much time staring at ICE.

Just remove prefixes, they only confuse people (who refer to both ab and emp as SRM for example) and newbies*.

*edit.
