I like to idea of options to vary gameplay, that being said, is it possible with a code change to chose a DM and add a filter which would allow for basic/enhanced/advanced ships to be used? To expand on that idea if basic ships are chosen how difficult would it be to make a filter to also allow tech choices? also going with the idea of basic/enhamced/advanced.
If you follow my way of thinking you could chose to fly a light int / regular int / heavy int with mini 1, 2 or 3.
This would give the people playing DMs quite a few options.
Thoughts?

Hmmm I am not sure on the difficulty level of this but I think there are currently some more important things we need to get to before we even take a look at messing with stuff that have to do with only DM's

We would have to make new, separate ships for each weapon & faction just to do this.
In ICE (and by extension the core file) there is a setting for equipment (ships & parts) called "Successor". What this does is replace the current ship with the successor ship if the latter is available. Hence why Enh. fighters disappear from the loadout screen once adv. figs come up - the adv. are set as the successors to Enh. and so replace them once available.
We'd have to either create separate ships at each tier just for DM (quite a bit of work) that have no successors, or we could set all current equipment to not have successors. The second option would affect both DMs and regular games though, and also means that you'd have to manually upgrade your ship each time new tech came available, not to mention how crowded the loadout lists would get. That said, I wouldn't want to make this change to CC.
However it would be much simpler to make a new core from a copy of CC (or other core of your choice) and set it up just for DMs. At that point you could have a DM core and not worry about cluttering things up for conquest games. That isn't one of the goals of the CC team right now though, but if someone with time on their hands wants to try it out then go for it.
